I have the chance of registering the same 5 letter domain for a new project I'm building for the same price with the .es and .ws extensions. Which one do you think is more professional and brandable?
@SiberForum - I don't agree with your point. Domain extension has nothing to do with the ability of the site of being sold. All it matters is traffic and earnings, even if it's longestandmostunreadabledomainnameintheworld.info.
Wrong. Anyway, regarding choosing between .es and .ws If you are building a regional site than chose the ccTLD that suits better. If you are developing a worldwide site than I'd suggest you to chose .ws Good luck
Delicio.us - Regional domain of USA, but one of the world's most popular social bookmarking sites. Bit.ly - Regional domain for Libya, but has nothing to do with Libyan audience. Want.it - Regional domain for Italy, recently was sold for $26k. Also, there are at least 4000 words in the English language ending with -es. See this great list of the popular websites using this technique known as "domain hack" (has nothing to do with illegal stuff or gaining unauthorized access to a domain): http://meta.uncyclomedia.org/wiki/UnSource:List_of_domain_hacks In short, regional TLDs have long stopped being used for the purpose of targeting visitors from their respective country.
If it's going to be in the Spanish language, I'd pick .es, if not then go with .ws, only if those are the 2 options available.
now, imagine those sites you mentioned in other domains? Even by changing only the TLD their value will change .
Funny to see that people suggest you to choose .ws instead of .es unless you are targeting a country. Just FYI .ws is also a ccTLD, abbreviation of Western Samoa.
Exactly my point. I don't target a specific country, but the .com is taken and from all of the available extensions only these two suit my budget and preference (others were longer like co.uk, com.in or something like that, THESE are to be used if targeting a specific country; .ws and .es are not).
if it is not .com .net .info .org and if not targeting some specific country then what's the difference if you use .ws or .es or .rs ??
