duplicate content on other pages - does that effect home page rankings?

I have one site which only have unique content on the home page,

home page is ranking well on google, other 3 pages of site has duplicate content, i dont care about other 3 pages rankings as they are just pages like FAQ, TESTIMONIALS, CONTACT US etc.

do you think it will effect my sites home page rankings(which are fine right now)?

Well, if the duplicate content pages are stuff like Contact, Privacy Policy then in reality they have no value for your conversions; so I would setup a robots.txt and put them in the list of pages that Google will NOT index.
That way you avoid being penalized for duplicate content.

i will advice you to remove the duplicate content from your website because Google might penalize you for having it.

after the Google panda update many quality checks algorithms have been implemented which is heating many websites, one of the quality score factors is having duplicate content in your website.

as you have mentioned it has been indexed by Google you can remove the url's by using the Google Webmaster Tool.

** a small tip: add the following code in your webpage's head section that you don't want to be indexed.

I have one suggestion you can disallowed those pages. search engine never find those pages. Thanks

 

better to replace duplicate content with few original words..... else restrict robots to follow these pages, let them not come in picture... but i would like to suggest if you ahve option of 3 pages with you better to put relevant content and let your site gain good ranking in google.

 

duplicate contents are always should be avoided. it can have adverse effect on your site. it is too much harmful. try to maintain unique contents.

 

If the other pages are FAQ, Testimonials and contact us then you should deindex them using the meta tag <META NAME="ROBOTS" CONTENT="NOINDEX, NOFOLLOW">.

Duplicate contents are not good for your site and yes if there is duplicate contents in other page then it can affect the home page ranking. So try to avoid duplicate contents and write original, quality and unique contents.

 

Yes dude 100% duplicate content is effected.

 

how long has it been indexed? have you checked if there's any negative effect or not?
