For adsense/PPC , Music/ Entertainment niche has one of lowest payouts. Commissions for affiliate marketing also not great. Isn't it a niche where you need much much more traffic/ visitors relative to other niches?
I guess it depends on the niches you want to compare it to. If you compare it to finance/ mortage of course because in total more money is made there.
I think that it is at once of the most difficult and one of the easiest fields to get big in. Some truly talented artist might spend his whole life writing amazing music before he is discovered, and this may not even happen until well after his death, whereas on the other hand someone only marginally above average might get lucky with a one or two hit wonder and make millions.
Its tough to just have a popular site in the music niche that also earns well. I have a blog that ranks number one for its main keyword, it gets close to 15k visitors a month, I only have adsense on it, but it only earns like $1 a day at most. There just isn't enough advertiser volume, I make money through banner ads and featured posts mostly.
This niche is heavily dependent on you being able to have an established following. With the number of establishes music commenting sites that exist already, getting your neck to stick out from the rest of the rest of the crowd is a serious challenge and one which will be able to get you moving in the right direction if mastered.. Work on getting a following first, then the rest can come slowly.
Yes I read about such similar stories- basically earning small change from adsense from such music sites. Sad
