when we skip a site and open another site on it then it will lead to inhance the bounce rate of the skip site and reduce the first site on which we open another site

Bounce rate is one of a few categories. When a person goes to your page and view only the first page, never going anywhere else, this is a bounce. This can happen for few ways. They hit the back button, they type something else in the url, the close the page, normal bounce rates are 40 to 70. IF you are around 40 for a relatively new site you are doing great.

The bounce rate measures the number of people who arrive at your site, then leave your site after viewing just one page (instead of going on to explore other pages on the site). Such a visit is called a bounce.

Bounce rate is the percentage (ratio) of visitors which persons left the site in very less time(<5seconds) and visit only one page.

Hi Steve, if a visitor stays for a longer time on just one page (say 20 mins) and leaves the site, it will still be considered as Bounce by search engines. But there is a difference:

A person visiting a site and leave in a few seconds contributes to "Actual bounce rate", which even Google Analytics picks up.

A person visiting a site and stays on that page for a long time, reads the entire content before leaving, thats called "Standard Bounce Rate".

So, the bounce rate depends on the time spent on the site. The time spent on the page before leaving that page is called "Dwell Time". Dwell time is considered by search engines for ranking factors.

Less Dwell time = you should be worried = Actual Bounce rate
High Dwell time = No worries = Standard Bounce rate

My bounce rate is like 41.6%.. it is because the products I sell have a different meaning to some people. Once they find out what I have they say.. "Oh.. that is not what I meant."
