A very powerful link building method that many of you have never heard about... called StatusNet (formally called Laconica). There is about 50,000 websites hosting the script so there is plenty of links for everyone, so I suggest you read up on how you can build links from this software and then go to a random page in the Google search and start from there. Enjoy the completely free links Digitalpoint! Source & Instructions: Link Building with Laconica ** These are dofollow links, however they are not anchor text **
Well before the time of SEO's, nearly all links were not anchor text. Clearly, Google has to continue to credit these very old authoritative links. The links are dofollow, so the sites still pass authority to the site being linked to, in addition to increasing the amount of times the site is being spidered/crawled/cached. Ultimately it can help your overall authority (and pagerank if that is an important metric to you), and increase your longtail traffic. It is argued that if you have keywords in your domain name, it would help even more for these keywords but this has yet to be proven.
I am very curious to see how this method works with no anchor text especially your goal is trying to rank targeted keywords and improve overall search engine positions. I think having keywords you are promoting in your domain definitely helps overall SERPs though it depends on the competitiveness of that particular keyword. It has been proven through various casey studies we have conducted.
