If I am not mistaken, if you submit a site and are using grammar like that, there is a good chance you'll NEVER be listed.

DMOZ doesn't have any special value, it just has same value as other sites. The benefit with DMOZ is that your page will have a high PageRank. But a link from a regular site with pagerank 4 has same value as DMOZ pagerank 4 page.

Although it takes way too long to be listed in DMOZ, their links are worth it. Put quality content in your website& have some patience

I agree with other posters on this thread... DMOZ is merely nice to have, but not necessary... the reality is that there are so many other mediums that drive people to your site, that DMOZ is barely even a check in the box anymore.

DMOZ is not a "quality content indicator."

    Is an "antiquated content indicator."

If you're in the mood to mock geocities-style web design, DMOZ has all the links for that.

They pretty much don't have any website listed that was created past 2004.

It's the way back machine link farm!

Matt Cutts (head of Google’s Webspam team) made a video about this issue. He said that is just a regular backlink, but because of the high Authority/PageRank of this website, it is worth trying getting a backlink from DMOZ.

A while ago people started writing off the DMOZ maintainers, because they could be bribed to place or remove links. Also since many are inactive, but unwilling to give up their role they ruin the place.

Let me clarify further because this statement is wholly misleading.

When you equate the time you would spend on submitting to another directory vs. DMOZ then your investment is equal.

When you compare your RETURN on that investment, where a "well worth it" payoff would be actually receiving a listing, then most any other directory has an exponential return on investment compared to a submission to DMOZ.

In simple terms, let DMOZ be the last directory you submit to after all others because it will be the last listing you will get, if you even get one.

    Got it??

I think DMOZ is living off of past glory. It used to be an authoritative and useful resource. Now, it's a largely abandoned black hole. I think of it as an abandoned building -- it's still sitting there, but not much is happening.

Care to explain what you mean by "not much is happening". Thousands of editors are listing sites every day!
