I have a facebook application that sends out tens of thousands of daily emails and am looking at how to include a small advertisement in the email. What options are there?

Every person recieving these emails opts in, and agrees that a small ad may be placed in the emails at future dates. Emails are CAN SPAM compliant.

It is better to take a prior permission from the recipient before sending the email.  Spamming should be avoided by all means.

In general most of the PPC network ads(adsense, bidvertisers, etc) are based on JavaScript and email clients and self hosted web mails like gmail, yahoo, etc prevent/block the javascript in the email body. So your ad never appears.

You can find some advertisers who want to be advertised to get traffic in terms of pay per click or CPM traffic.
