It was August 6, 1991, at a CERN facility in the Swiss Alps, when 36-year-old physicist Tim Berners-Lee published the first-ever website. It was, not surprisingly, a pretty basic one — according to CERN. It centered on information regarding the WWW project. Visitors could learn more about hypertext, technical details for creating their own webpage, and even an explanation on how to search the Web for information. There were no visitors.  What's changed since then?
Well british people have invented a lot they once ruled a large part of the world too so nothing suprising but yea it definitely is a good invention
Yes, I know. I'm British. It's just been a while since we invented anything as revolutionary as the web.
Don't be too surprised... there was research done in Japan years ago that attributed 80% of all modern day inventions to have a British origin!!! (According to US author Bill Bryson anyway) Even down to things like insurance! Not sure how they got such a high figure, but it rains a lot here in the UK, so there are lots of bored people inventing stuff in their garden sheds I guess
