Long tail keyword & short tail keyword

I have a doubt about promoting keyword one of my friend told me if we promote long tail keyword like "cheap nokia x7 deals" the short tail keyword like "nokia x7 deals" will promote itself. Is it true???????????????????

 

always use long tail keywords but short keyword should be exist in long tail keyword.  

 

You should target the long trail keyword while doing on page, whereas while doing link building keep mix keywords so as to make it natural.

 

You should target long tail keywords at the initial stages of your website. As soon as the long tail keywords start coming on the rankings, start targeting short tail keywords as well. And In your case you can target "cheap nokia x7 deals" and "nokia x7 deals" will start coming on the rank automatically.

Its best technique to get good ranking. Find long-tail keywords according to your main keyword in semrush, and start going. Firstly, you need to target low volume keyword, and when you ranked with it, then you should go for med and after high volume keyword. I mean that:
target  first
cheap nokia x7 deals 
than
nokia x7 deals
than
nokia details.

I use long tail keywords with exact match domains and also end up ranking on the short without trying.  Also I think plurals will also rank for singular.
