Did anyone else see the HBO movie "Too Big to Fail"? I thought it was very well done explanation of what caused this recession, ASSUMING that the story it tells is true.

The story is, when Lehman Bros declared bankruptcy, Lehman Bros accounts in the U.K were frozen per British bankruptcy law. THIS started the domino effect, because Lehman was not an American corporation, it was an international corporation. So that caused the international recession.

What do the rest of you think?

Speaking of pork... those who believe that pork is better than steak are wrong. :) Breeze, riddle me this: the 600 to 800 billion debt printed up, why did they not give it to the working man? Did you see the video by Ron Paul ? I am guessing you cringe at him like the Chairman of the ( privatlèy owned ) Central Bank does...

...and he does not believe that gold is money. I suppose you will have to cringe again, Breeze Wood... Here is the video where Ron Paul explains how much money every American could have had if the Federal Reserve had distributed it to citizens, instead of to the BANKERS.

Gold is not money ?? Since when ??

The American people could have been eating steak right now if all that money printed up was given to them. Instead it was placed upon them as a DEBT by the bankers. Now Americans are eating SPAM.... and they are mad about it.

Blue Star, your travails originate from your own Policies and Principles highlighted by the Previous Republican Administration.....please keep note of this fact as you have been instructed to this same point in the past.

Blue Star, as you can see, your question was too intelligent for Breeze "Mr. Irony" Wood.

To put Breeze's answer another way:
    Makes more sense now!

Do you deserve a comeback from me for the same drivel/bloviation you no doubt worship as your religion ? Your beliefs are not just ridiculous, they are un-American. Wherever you got them from... you are an enemy of freedom.

Remember, there are only two forms of government :

    1. Think and act for yourself ( take responsibility for your own actions )
    2. Let others think and act for you ( refuse to take responsibility for your own actions )

Breezewood is obviously in the second group. Breezewood... no one here believes you ! But please keep posting here so we can show the world how ignorant it is to allow this debt charade to continue.

To bad for you Blue Star - the Administration has brokered the economic recovery again by advancing the debt limit with significant enhancements for future growth.

The US is a Constitutional Republic and the UK is a Constitutional Monarchy. Yes, a democratic process is used in elections, but that's not what 'a Democracy' is. The US Founding Fathers were cautious of this mob rule.

Too bad for me and the rest of my fellow Americans, but you could care less what that means. Destroying the lives of hard working people to give money to the rich is wrong. Deep down you feel good about it don't you ? Saddling people with trillions of dollars of debt and you would not lift a finger to help them... you feel good about it. Go ahead and confess.

I may as well include this :

Yeah, the bankers are making billions, then moving out of the country to leave thousands more without a job. LINK

In the video Ron Paul said that we lost 5.1 trillion dollars bailing banks out. I have no idea where he's even coming up with that number. At this time, we've actually made back all the money from the banks themselves (even made a profit). This wasn't free money, the government was buying assets and equity, and in many cases they paid it back in a reasonable time. With the entire bailout program, we are 25 billion in the hole currently, much of that loss comes from AIG, General Motors and Chrysler. Big difference between 5.1 trillion and 25 billion. Here's an article about it:

Would mind showing me (proving to me) documented evidence that any of that money was actually ever paid back? There are banks that still have a great deal of that cash stockpiled.

The US is in debt with trillions, not billions. This is all irrelevant really as the bankers have a blank cheque signed by We The People. The fact is that it will never be paid back and that's the intention. You really think all this magical fiat, digital money that means absolutely nothing is what the elite want? It's all about power. Money only means something to me and you, to them it's a tool. I hope one day more will understand this.

Currency is faith based and has been since the gold standard was abolished.

I know of two QE's and each were around 700 to 800 billion which "only" makes 1.5 trillion. The "àudit the Fed" program which was begun by Ron Paul, was trying to see just exactly what was going on inside the privatèly owned Central Bank that somehow got the name "Federal Reserve". What would happen if the Central Bank ( named Federal Reserve ) was actually accountable to someone ? The bank chairman in the video includes his bank as part of the US government, listen to his words closely. Is he telling the truth ? The Federal Reserve is named very deviously, similar to the "Patriot Act". Some people in high positions maintain them by making their constituents dumber, keeping them quiet and docile.

I was not looking for this fact, but it was in the news : There is around 9 billion "missing" in Iraq. If Doctor Paul is including the wars, the 5.1 trillion number should be easy to come by. The dollars per day for the wars and the 700 to 800 military bases worldwide was surprising to me. Doctor Paul is privy to numbers on government that we do not have, thanks to his position. He is chairman of the Domestic Monetary Policy Subcommittee of the House Financial Services Committee, which means he has access to tons of economic information. He is the nemesis of the banking cartels and it is a miracle a man like him is in his position.

One other point, look up who is actually on the governing committees of Fannie and Freddie. Surprise ! The same people who are fighting for more bailouts/thieving from the American People. Actually, its no surprise anymore. I was not looking for that fact either, it was in the news.

I notice you said "made a profit". Who made that profit if no one has a job anymore ? Where exactly is the money, the printed up stuff ? Have you seen this > LINK I would like to know who said we "made a profit". If it is the same group that no longer believes gold is money, it is quite convenient, no ? When the value of our money is simply the words of bankers, they can say anything they want about the paper stuff they printed up and we use, and we have to accept it as truth.

TARP and the associated programs the paragraph above is an example of were instrumental in preventing the 07-09 Recession from evolving into a World Wide Depression and in Fact curtailed the Recession in June of 09.

The stimulus package to reverse the hemorrhaging unemployment has been financed between 2.5%-3.5% by the Federal Reserve that when coupled with the additional sums of cash printed by the Reserve in the longrun will translate into a self sufficient recovery.

The "Perfect Storm" that evolved between the transition from the Bush and Obama Administrations includes a new terminology associated with the period - "Trillion" dollar expenditures. "Trillion" is the new kid on the block and ironically it is the Republicans that have established the nomenclature.

Much could be said for the lack of jail time for the bank executives et. all. involved in the economic collapse with both Political Parties at fault.

"Dumbest thing I have heard all week."

There are no jobs. But, as I said, thanks for being here... your PC views are easily seen as continuing the current policy of piling on the slavery. They are not working, and history has proved they do not work. The same group of people that are recipients of the printed up money are leaving the USA, taking away MORE jobs. Keep denying the truth Breeze...
