So I have a whopping total of 5 back links in Google. It's been the same for like 5 months. Anyway, I have spent nearly $1,500 on unique articles and content for the site. For the site I'm speaking of, I got all the local listings locked very easy. You know, like "Florida keywordhere" So, I decided to go for the really big SERPS. I took on the most popular and also the third most popular search term. I am now sitting atop of the second page for these two search terms and everyone around my listing is a multi million dollar company, some even multi billion dollar companies. My question is, why am I ranking so well for such tuff keywords? I have crap for back links in Google, I have semi-crappy PR (pr4) So why am I ranking so well? Could it really be from all the unique content?
PR4 is not so bad, if the articles themselves have PR4 as well. My website has PR6 - but only the homepage has that. Articles range from PR2-4 and in many cases do reasonably well on google. Your content is fresh, unique and probably useful - so why wouldn't you rank well? Congratulations. One more thing: the amount of back links google reports is probably only a fraction of the total back links it counts. Use yahoo site explorer to find out how many back links you actually have. Then expect google to see those same back links, even though it doesn't report them.
It has taken me about 8-10 months now and I am starting to break the top 10 with big time keywords. To be honest, I have impressed myself really. On Wednesday I broke the top 10 in Google for the biggest and most searched for keyword of my niche, I was super impressed with myself. And sitting there looking at all the sites I was on there with made it even better. All other 9 sites were nationally, well known, muilti multi million/billion dollar companies. P.S. The top 10 ranking for that holy grail of a keyword got bumped back and now I'm sitting in my usual #14 spot. >=x P.S.S. I owe it all to DP! I learned everything I know from DP. Just reading and reading and reading the threads here. Thanks everyone! I even printed out a screen of it and put it on my wall lol.
Hi Naples, It just shows that content is more important then pagerank. Btw, whatever GG tells you about your pagerank and backlinks are crappy! They are hiding so much information so that it will be difficult for people to reverse engineer and break their algo. Also, I realise many BIG companies do not SEO their web sites. They may have lots of links but are these link optimized for the keyword they are targeting? Congrats!
Thank you, and everyone else on DP who helped me get here today, it was only by reading the posts and rants of the DP members that I ever had a shot at doing this. Now I have a skill that will last me for some years and maybe even make me some good cash. Thanks guys!
Pr means nothing so crap pr means no more than a good pr Also you don't have 5 google backlinks. Check here: www.1stsearchenginerankings.com/link-popularity-tool/ Google only shows a sampling of your backlinks and those don't have to be the best.
Youre right: Google Back Links 395 When I use iwebtool, it only comes up with 5 backlinks for the past 6+ months. Weird...
when I use that tool for my site the alexa ranking comes up correctly, but the google backlinks is like 400k+, and same for yahoo...even though the site is relatively new
I got the opposite, few backlinks (which is correct) and a very good Alexa, but in my case it is because my site is a subdomain. The tool shows the backlinks of my site but the alexa of the hosting company.
