Hey All! I have a pre arranged agreement with the owner of a PR8 Site. The Site is quite old (1998) but it has some drops in DC from PR 0-8. The site is irrelevant, (but not porn adult and stuff....), has very few content, but it has back links from .edu and .org sites. I have a concern - will it do any good to my site(s) (improve PR and ranckings) or it will pass for no good. Do high PR Irrelevant sites are able to pour PR? Thanx Guys for paticipation in the topic!
I dont know really about SERPS but for sure you will get more visits from googlebot and deeper crawls
If the pr is dropping to 0, it is probably black listed and won't be much use to you. Still, if your agreement is a set of free links to your domain, with targeted link-text, I'd still say go for it. If you have to pay, I'd wait to see if the PR8 is still a PR8 in a month or so.
It will help ... if is not relevant it won't help to much , but it will help ++++ Take care, google is very smart... and is looking for natural build links only... for example : if you buy just PR8/PR9 and not having PR0-PR6 backlinks, it will easy figure out that you are spamming in other words take care to have a few PRX backlinks until you will buy many PR(X+1) backlinks
It can't do harm unless you link to it and the site is bad so take the link. Since it is unrelevant it won't pass as much importance to your site but again can't hurt. I wouldn't go by the PR8 to identify the importance of the site however.
Thank you all guys for share! I have recently investigated the site - it's not black listed and is cached and indexed by Google. It currently doesn't have any outgoing links from homepage. Nevertheless I have some concerns...
Sites can still be penalized in Google and be indexed. So that doesn't mean they are alright. But they probably are.
Looks like its cached and has some keyword rankings... Probably I'll go for it and will let you know the effect later... guys.... Thank you all for participation!
