Very true, all that we can do is assume. Who knows, Yahoo or MSN may be planning for something big and we'll just all be surprised one day
But I've recently just read a comment that says that Bing actually gives better results than Google. For instance, Google wasn't able to identify duplicate content but Bing did.
Google has better quality results, I've found. Google SEO also does not equal Bing SEO. Bing has a different set of criteria it looks for -- so ranking high in Google does not always mean you rank high in Bing!
Last year, Bing lost $2.56 Billion of Microsoft's money. Last year, Google profited $8.5 Billion. Based on those company's own forecasts and current quarterly reports: Google will be more profitable this year. Bing will lose more money this year.
Now a days, Google is the most usable search engine world wide. So it gets the more profit from others search engines.

I don't understand why people even bother comparing the two. Google and Bing are two totally different animals, and while they are both search engines, I think that's where the similarities end. Google is bigger, but, I wouldn't go as far to say it's the better of the two.
