I observe every time that almost every SEOs and webmasters are just trying to increase their website's PageRank because they think that PageRank is the only way for their website's good reputation to the people. Why they don't think that there are other factors exist to improve their website's performance such as conversion rate, clickthrough rate and bounce rate. Then when will they start to think beyond PageRank???
When will only smart people will be seos and webmasters not like now full of amateurs noobs calling themselfs "experts"
Page rank shouldn't mean anything to one's own site, but it is one way of communicating some of the value to others, for things like link sales and site sales.
Well friend good point you noted. and you are absolutely right that page rank has definitely worth but it doesn't mean that your website is good just due to high page rank. Other factors you mentioned are also very necessary to make your site "important" in the eyes of readers. I also read your detail research on this topic in your site and really appreciate that you are the "real" SEO
If a site has page rank it is simply because of the pagerank of the sites linking to it, not necessarily because it has great content that users will love
Page rank shows the reputation of website in search engines but people loves informative and user friendly website.
Page rank shows the authority of your website, so in a way this is very important however it should not overshadow the other factor that is to get a high SERP ranking or at least drive a considerable amount of traffic to the website.
Pagerank is sort of meaningless nowadays. Google has long ignored it in terms of sending traffic, and 95% of visitors of a typical site dont even know what it is, much less do they care.
I copywrite for a small businesses web design & hosting company, and all or our prospects, bar none, want to be at the top of Google, so now tell me pagerank is sort of meaningless...
i think you confuse Pagerank and ranking in Google for some specific keyword. these are two entirely different things.
