Ad placement is okay. A bit annoying to be frank. May be you are not getting enough traffic to your site. You should try using infolinks

PS- i am not an expert in this. Still learning

Infolinks are in text links which act as ads. It works good in forums and article directories

Is your site optimized for any search terms? What phrases would your site be found for? Do those phrases have any traffic at all?

These are the questions to look into.

This is all because of traffic, if you generate traffic for your site. User visit your site and click the adds, subscribe your articles.

Don't start a website on the basis of making money unless you really know what you are doing.

Start a website, get quality content up there, bring a good flow of traffic, then start placing ads and the money will begin to roll.

Take it easy & don't rush into things. Good things come to those who wait.

You have 5 ads on your index. Take out the 250x250 from the center and the skyscraper from the left side, that's optimised.

You need to put ads on the top of the pages. It will produce more ad revenues.

They are pretty good in placement and color. I suggest another Skype Banner in the left side of the side bar right below "Pages," that would do it.

Remove image ad on the right and set up a text link... Maybe this would work better.
Like I said before, every webmaster must find your own adsense setup... Trials and errors...
