Yeah, my bet is that he's picking sites that are easy for social networking traffic. Enough people have said how much traffic you can get from going page #1 on Digg. ;)

I hope someone diggs my latest project (the chosen link). It would make an enormous boost to it's traffic and backlinks if it gets on the main page. :p

My image host is pretty much there without spending any money on advertising, although with myspace and other large forums its a lot easier than it would be to get that many people to a more content driven website.

Goodluck, I'll check back for updates

Although you may get some untargeted traffic, but maybe you could post the URL when the site goes live instead of after the challenge is over.

And, to up the ante (I don't mean I'm betting):

Why don't you add a conversion target to your challenge? This would identify your traffic better as targetted or not. Without a conversion target, how would we know it is targetted? SE, sure but conversion is even better. And the conversion doesn't have to be a purchase, it could just be a sign-up or getting them to go to a certain page.

Or better yet - send the traffic to one of my sites and take a percentage of the sales!

My guess is you are going to make some tutorials on photoshop, logo design etc etc and submit them to the top tutorialsites. Heared it will get you lots of traffic fast. But what puzzles me too is the top 10 Google thing

What do you charge your own time out at? Or is that covered by a separate budget?

Very interesting, particularly the top 10/20 claims for Google. When is the start date for this challenge?
