Does anyone else agree Microsoft is strangling competition in the Operating System Market? Should the company be broken up?

Is this 1998 all over again? The US Justice Department wanted to do that back then but came to an agreement with Microsoft that put them under US Federal oversight until just last month.

The market is taking care of Microsoft on its own. It's stock price is down, sales of Windows and Office are down. In the capitalist system, such things tend to take care of themselves.

Spot on Dr Howard, why should anyone do what's already taking place in the marketplace? However, I'm happy with Microsoft, if it wasn't for Bill Gates, we'd still be having to write programs in computer languages, no, I don't want to return to those days again...

How are you able to write a program without a computer language?

I agree with you regarding computer programmers, however, back in the days before Windows came along, all anyone could do was to write programs using computer languages, there were no such things as, for example, this forum...it would take too long to write the program for each post. That's why I praise Bill Gates, he brought us out of cyber prehistory, good for him!

I believe MS will still dominate in the game of OS. They are considered pioneers in technology and computer in general so ppl still look up to them and trust their products/services until now.

I think to attempt to break up MS because they are popular would be a quite draconian move and not welcome in any democracy.
If MS offers products people / companies want to buy, then so be it.
If on the other hand, they are monopolising the OS market by unscrupulous means, then that is a different matter...
