2. Less focus on quantity, more focus on quality.
3. Less emphasis on PageRank, more emphasis on authority.
4. Less links to the homepage, more links to the content.

hi stupidcamel , i still believe in rankings because rankings are something constant ( if you are consistent in your optimization activity and approach), suppose if your website has got a constant #1 position on page # 1 in Google results for keywords " buy fish jars" then there are chances that you may have more audience which is intended to buy fish jars and bowls, people coming from "buy phrases" have total intentions to buy and they are willing to pull some money out of their credit cards. What i mean to say that rankings help in increasing conversions, achieve top rankings for your business in SERPS and conversions will come your way. In other words your can make a strategy for rankings keeping the whole "conversion idea" in mind...

Yes I agree. we must focus on quality. but quantity also important

 

Quality is going to trump anything over links now with Google's Panda. A site with thousands of links and a bunch of low quality content probably isn't going to do as well as a site with 10 good links and superb content.

 

I definitely agree with point 4. Point 5 is also something everybody should be thinking about.

 

I totally agree with the overall approach however i have some reservations for number 1 & 4. May be you've been dealing with different business or sites that more generic purpose and audience.

well, this is not a prediction anymore, these are some of the true facts of link building.

 

Spammy quick link builders and sellers of poor links your days are over it will be more difficult now to do this if you provide good link building you got me as a customer There are many factors that goes into ranking.

* Age of domain
* rank of page
* who is linking to site
* amount of traffic


and maybe another 200 plus factors ....

Good input! but I have to admit its hard to make conversions... thats the hardest part!

 

Age of domain is going to be a more critical factor ever than before. Google's Panda is going to revamp SEO as we see it today, however quality link building will be a must.
