Hi, I don't know if any of you God believers have ever watched this video series from an ex-christian, I did just yesterday, it's a long watch but is very clear, very logical and the videos are well done, here is the synopsis: " In this series the author (YouTuber Evid3nc3) explains his life as a born-again Christian, his deconversion, and his life as an atheist. In the deconversion section, he shows how evidence, reason, and experiences related to prayer, morality, deconverted Christians, the Bible, and his relationship with God Himself all lead to his eventual inability to believe anymore. The series Why I am no longer a Christian is not finished. It is a work in progress. Based on the author’s current notes for the series, he should be releasing a new video in the series once a month until April 2012. " Here's the video playlist: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSy1-Q_BEtQ&feature=player_embedded&list=PLA0C3C1D163BE880A Tell me what you think about it if you watched it too.
Why is it always the athiests who keeep shouting and insisting that only Atheism is the best. Dude, if you dont feel god no big deal. If you are a good person in real life then it does not matter if you believe in god. There are a billion christians, if one does not like it it proves nothing.
Associating the Creator through any (text) religion is wrong, good call. The physical Garden we live in is the Avenue to the Principles of the Almighty. What Principles for life do Atheist deny are not necessary for their own existence?
Some philosopher(s) (probably) turned off the light in his mind. Nothing is wrong with Christ's teaching of Love, brotherhood, and sisterhood. The only thing that the followers of Christ lack is bravery to apply it. The guy who gave it up surely have never tried it for one day in his life. Anyways God protect him.
OK, so obviously you're not keen on watching the video. If you did you would see how much care the guy took to show you that he was a devoted christian, so you don't use your "well he wasn't a real christian anyway" line.. I thought he explained very well what he was feeling and the long process it took.
Any honest person will admit the flaws of Christianity, it's truly a satanic inspired religion, and Jesus is free from what they attribute to him.
Watched the video and little bit of the second video and got .... bored to the bones. I'll tell you frankly how I felt. I felt like he was dragging me down wanting to psychologically screw up my mind. What a waste of time, what a negative attitude of his! As much as this thread looks like will be.
Well, I watch all he has done, and I was never a christian or a god believer, but I take interest in this for some reason. And I've found his videos series to be very well done, with illustrations and very clear speech. What I've found the most interesting is that he took several videos to really explain his background, how he was born again, and then baptism, he was really believing in God, not only because he has been taught but also from his own research. He is interested in computer science and maths/logic, because he wanted to spread the word of God and thought he would spread it by creating a video game and thought he needed to get a degree in computer science in order to acquire the skills. It is only during the course of researching, argumenting online with attheists that he met a scholar, an old professor, who was able to point him to resources about the bible history, etc. Anyway, what I found interesting is that he clearly explains his own process to become an attheist. My thread is not about what you think of being an attheist or trying to convince you, but just about this (long) video series which is very well done. I'm not saying that christianity is wrong and that islam is right as someone here is trying to imply, not at all! Anyway, sorry that you find it boring, because the first parts are all about being a christian and really involved in it, so I thought this part should not be so boring for a believer. I understand that the following parts might be disturbing or boring for a believer, but for me as an attheist it's interesting to watch the explanations of what turned him into an attheist. In particular he says that believing in God is not only about one thing, like believing the bible or having logical arguments in favor of God existence, or having experienced personal relationship with God, but it is all together and then some more, which works in an interconnected network, just like internet. If one node of the network is "attacked" it doesn't matter because the network still works fine with one node down. It is only after many nodes are "down" that the whole network starts to show signs of weakness. Even thought the last node to stand is the core belief, of the personal relationship with God, the inner voice in the mind that he experienced all his life when addressing to God. Here's the part about this, interesting: It's interesting to watch the whole video series (which isn't yet finished, but already goes far) but I understand totally if you don't have the time to waste on such a long video if you're not interested at all in this issue of believers turning into non believers and the process it takes.
if the believers are Christian, they are non believers to begin with. True. Just the time and interest wains for his personal rendition.
Why is everyone putting trying to prove that he exist with something like a math problem.. Seriously?... God is all about faith and faith is believe what you can't see nor explain.. So if you don't believe then go on with your life and stop trying to make people join you.. Simple as that
Well lilc800 I see a definitive advantage of not having religious people anymore on earth, it's about the stupid things that people do in the name of their religion. The fanatics you know.. So if instead of staying neutral about religion, instead of "giving respect" to religious beliefs, we would ridiculize them in public, all the time, then religion would have less power, which would be all good for me. Just look around you, everytime there's a bad thing done in the name of religion (I won't go into namming them all) I wish the work of ridiculizing religion would have started centuries ago.. But anyway, it's not a big deal, I don't have much time to live, so..
Jesus never approve an organize religion, which includes Christians. If you are good, then you are good, you believe in a god, fine, keep it within as it is a personal thing between you and your maker, belong to a club does not make you holy just empties your pockets.
Do you know anything at all about christianity or do you literally make it up a you go along in some kind of imaginary alternate reality? To the christian god it very much matters. in fact, it's the only thing that matters. The christian god is clear; you can murder people, rape children beat up old ladies, you can still get in to heaven, so long as you believe in him. Disbelieve in him and the psychotic barbarian thinks it warrants eternal torture.
At video 11 one just wonders what took him so long to abandon Christianity (Christian Bible) but also why he associates abandoning Christianity as likewise a loss of faith. Edenist do believe in Remission (without text) found through the Physical Presence of God the Garden we live in.
I'm sure that this situation with atheistic prejudices is rather common for many Christians nowadays. Many people are disappointed with the question of faith, so can't feel our creator in their hearts. Those poor people are on a boarder not to have a faith at all and instead of being a human are becoming atheists. Hope that their views about God will last further of Bible postulates.
Well there's another video in the 30 days series, you know from the guy who made "supersize me" movie/documentary? Well in this series there a woman, attheist, living for 30 days in the home of christians. It shows how the christians are insecure, they can't understand that you can live very well without believing in a god, that you don't need a god in order to have morales, and you don't need a god in order to face everyday life, and no need to believe in afterlife also to make plans and not kill yourself today. Anyway the christian don't understand and so they're afraid of attheists, they think they have no morals and that they must be very sad and empty inside. This is not true, but christian are limited in what they can understand, otherwise they wouldn't be christian, you understand, it's part of the package. If you believe in the supernatural, then you're not equipped to think about what other people are. You must refer to your holy book or believer community to think and get approval, you can also ask inside yourself, in the personal relationship with God, and he will answer you, via a voice in your head.. Well big news, the voice in your head is just that
Dispensing with Christianity seems an obsession with you rather than just a logical / inevitable conclusion - and as though becoming an Artiest is the only alternative.
I don't know what you're intending exactly, but if it's to say that christianity is wrong BUT something else is true, then please don't start with this. Unless you have some kind of evidence OR you just say the universe is God which means nothing either, then don't critizise me. Where did you see that it was a thread about saying that I'm this or that? It's not about me, re-read the first post if you need to focus on the topic.
Where did you see that it was a thread about saying that I'm this or that? It's not about me, re-read the first post if you need to focus on the topic. Your thread begins by (your) asking "believers" their opinions....then refer everything to "your opinion" of Christianity in relation to Atheism. The broader view which you invited does not seem your true objective.
no, their opinions on the video series. Otherwise I wouldn't have to create a new thread if it was about what one think about the other, there are many already.
