New Proxy Site Needing Review

Gidday all,

Playing with a proxy script at the moment, slightly modified, mostly for simplicity.

What do you think of it - usable, intuitive ? or clunky and confusing etc..

I normally work with REAL proxies (which are entirely transparent), so this CGI http proxy scenario is new to me.

Obviously your feedback is greatly appreciated. If you spot something earth shatteringly mind boggling, there's some sterling in it for you.

PS: The url will only be up for around 24 hours as it's in a staging environment

 

Both the site have a very easy and neat interface, the only thing i dont like is the "I am not a bot" thing, its very annoying for users to confirm they are not bots, users want fast and easy use access.

 

I like them both.The "I'm not a bot.." was a bit annoying,especially if was going to use the service on a daily basis.If you don't want to remove it,at least you could use smaller identification codes/words.

Thanks for the feedback.

I know the "I'm not a bot" thing is annoying, but it's there to discourage abuse. I'll be removing it soon (once I have a transparent alternative in place).

I'll continue working on it while it's there, so you may notice some odd behaviour (POSTS may work intermittantly (ie myspace, gmail, yahoo mail etc) etc.

Good point actually.. I think I'll change the button to read, "I'm A Human"..

A bot is an automated program. For example, if someone wanted to do something that takes a long time, they might write a program that does it for them. There are plenty of programs out there that use anonymous proxies for comment spam etc.

I am really not getting something. What I see is the same site with two different URLs. If it is a page with a logo and a form, then I liked the logo, but I don’t see anything else.

Yes, it is the same site on a couple of domains. The churn with proxies (ie blacklists etc) is quite high nowadays so I provided 2 just in case.
