Im think lot of ecommerce make a good job for SEO, Magento got all the web 2.0 features built-in but the learning curve is harder, Os commerce is a bit old, Zen cart, Virtuemart and Prestashop are good option, most of the CMS base shop got good SEO add-on to help you score well...don't forget to feed compare price site like Google merchant

    Good luck

    Hi Friend,

Thats a great idea starting an ecommerce business online, High revenue earning platform. I would like to suggest 3 things for ecommerce software, which are all user friendly for all your SEO and Online Marketing needs

    1. If you are planning to buy a ecommerce script, then AJ Shopping Cart Software ,will be the right choice with plenty of user friendly facilities.

    2. If you worry about hosting issue, you can get Zscart - SaaS Ecommerce solution with easy monthly payment option and free trial too. you can make your shop with in five minutes.

    3. If you are looking for free source means, Zeuscart will be right choice. Highly downloaded open source script online.

I would like to go with Magento which have features like Google Site Map, Meta information, auto generated site map, reviews, etc., so it basically takes care of SEO issues for your site.

Choosing SEO friendly template or developing a unique custom is also one of the main aspects of ecommerce website marketing plan.

This depends on what other features you're looking for in a shopping cart.

BigCommerce is a pay-as-you-go service dependent on how many products you're selling, how much bandwidth and space you need and how many staff logins you require.  There are other companies that offer a similar service such as Shopify and Volusion. Goodsie is a newer company that charges 15.00 a month and set-up is easy, but their SEO features are lacking.

There's also the option of installing PHP software such as Sunshop or Zen-Cart. Both have SEO options but require an upfront payment for a license to use it.

Once you figure out what other features you need, then you can break it down to which service offers those features + good SEO capabilities. BigCommerce is definitely a good start. There's little risk involved since you pay month-to-month (you even get a free 15 day trial) and their support is very responsive.

I tried BigCommerce for those free 15 days. They definitely have a huge list of SEO features; it literally takes care of all of it for you. SEO friendly URLs, using your keywords, META data, 301 redirects, robots.txt, custom URLs, correctly using NOFOLLOW, XML sitemap, 100% HTML and CSS templates - they covered everything you can think of.

Adding products, categories, and all that good stuff's relatively simple. In turn, adding your SEO data is simple as well. The only drawback I have with it is design customization. They offer 90+ free templates to use, but you'll want a nice, eye-catching design and that's not easily done on your own unless you're intimately familiar with HTML and CSS. Then again, that's an issue with most e-commerce shopping carts, I suppose.

yes dude use magento that is good, but the thing is you need to have dedicated server if you host in shared then your site will be slow, another is virtuemart the only thing in joomla is that its security is lil week.

It is better to go for OS-Commerce/OSC-Max

    skype: manoj.karmocha for more info

In general, the earlier (or higher ranked on the search results page),
and more frequently a site appears in the search results list,
the more visitors it will receive from the search engine's users.
    By 1997,
search engines recognized that webmasters were making efforts to rank well
in their search engines, and that some webmasters were even manipulating their
rankings in search results by stuffing pages with excessive or irrelevant keywords.
Early search engines, such as Altavista and Infoseek,
adjusted their algorithms in an effort to prevent webmasters from manipulating rankings.
