God doesn't tell us to kill innocent men, women, or children... so that's not an issue.

You need to remember that in the Nazi regime, if you didn't do what you were told as a soldier, you were executed by firing squad (most of the time, by firing squad). This is why Saints in the war fighting on the side of Germany were told to obey their commanders and serve their country, and God would protect them.

Hey, you ever seen Saints & Soldiers? Great movie of a true story of an LDS soldier fighting on the Allies' side. (Best shot in their battalion, too - he never missed!) He is in France and they capture a German troop. He tried to escape, of course, and during the escape, the American (Mormon guy) shot him, but... didn't... he didn't miss - twice - but he missed. Two other American soldiers watching confirmed the "hits" - he was point-blank range, but missed... but didn't... but did...

They tracked him down, later and it turns out that that German guy was actually converted to the LDS Church by that soldier that captured him! God was protecting him, because he was obeying his commanders' orders but he did the right thing anyway.

If you have any comments or rebuttals about this little story I just shared, watch the movie first. I won't answer any questions about it unless you watch the movie, so you don't ask in ignorance.

If your God has not teached you that simple lesson yet, I am sorry to say that he is not much of a God.

God has told us not to kill innocent men, women, and children. I don't get what YOU don't? (And hey - don't ignore that post I made just above mine, as you are wont to do.)

I think you have left LDS church and joined the LSD church. ;)

Read your post again and again, does it make sense to you? If it does, seek professional help.

The lesson is very simple, you should not commit war crimes, no matter who tells you to do it. That is the difference between a righteous man and a coward.

So because the surviving children are kidnapped and later returned, after 120 innocent men, women and children are murdered for nothing, it's all ok?

Why? Just because a miracle happened in WW2?

Yes it does, and no, thanks, I am not insane.

Believe what you want, have your own beliefs; just don't bash me for mine or try to make me seem like a fool, got it?

You obviously ignored the rest of my post. Look at the validity of the information.

I've been a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS, not FLDS or RLDS) my entire short life of 48 years. I served a two year mission. I've held various leadership positions in my church. The vast majority of what has been stated as "fact" on this thread is in fact misconstrued, misquoted or completely misunderstood. Yes, there are wackos in my church, just as there are in every demographic. The majority of us are good, decent hard-working people. Before you guys go spouting off at the mouth representing falsehoods as facts, you should first consider finding a reliable source for your information, rather than the "anti-Mormon" literature that exists in abundance. I suspect that if you were interested in purchasing a Lexus, you wouldn't go to the Mercedes dealer to get your information about Lexus. Why people do that with religion is beyond me. I know you've all heard this before but it bears repeating in this thread. Arguing on the internet is like competing in the Special Olypics. Even if you win, you're still retarded.

So what was this thread originally about? Oh yeah, Warran Jeffs (never a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS) or Mormons (a nickname intended to be derogatory in the early days of the restoral of the church) I agree that he should not be breaking the law by encouraging the illegal coupling of a minor to an already married man. Can we stay on topic now?

I love that week! My second favorite week is "celebrate minor accomplishments week" - when everyone posts that they have 100 posts. Awesome. Awesome.

    This is ridiculous.

Your God hasn't told you anything. You all are just spouting off what people tell you God wants.

The joke is that they don't know any more than you do.

    From your agnostic forum:
    and

    This is you, correct?

It appears you have a different ethos, depending on the venue. I am an atheist, by at least one of the definitions on your own forum. Have you ever thought about following the creed you promulgate there? Preaching atheism moves it to a religious movement, does it not?

No it's just me making the same point in different venues.

We DON'T KNOW there is a God and we don't know there isn't.

So when people say what God "says" they're just spouting off what someone told them.

You seem to have read my post but ignored the last line.

This is a statement of fact. How do you know?

Sorry, but I read and understood your entire post. You categorically told someone what they deem as prayer, you deem as nonsense - that no God told anyone anything. This is nothing more than preaching.

    Especially in light of

How can you positively declare to someone "your God hasn't told you anything", that it is all in someone's head? Not trying to bust your chops - as I said, I am an atheist. But this is across the board - while I agree with your sentiments as expressed on your agnostic forum, your statement here presumes a knowledge you simply don't have. And, I respectfully submit, it is wholly hypocritical.

Blogmaster, feel free to give me red rep if you feel it necessary, but do allow me the courtesy of defending my beliefs against the onslaught of ignorant attacks. Six months old thread or not, the ignorance and lack of factual information attackers are basing their viewpoints on is appalling. I tried to stay quiet but could not. So red rep away--I'll take my lashes like a man.
