I am using it. And I like it, but not all of my plug ins work. I do like all the little features they added like the spelling check and then the "x" on the tabs. It was worth the update.
I read somewhere you can disable those (i'm getting used to them finally) using the about:config Might try googling it? -kpaul
I'm using FF 2.0 and I have to say that it's pretty awesome. It runs faster and it looks slicker. I also didn't lose any information throughout the upgrade.
Thanks! Do you know what link I need to download 1.5.0.7? I looked through it but I can't figure it out. I appreciate it
Oh, I've had this problem before. It happens rarely but it usually happens when that 1 web pages freezes but you exit the tab. Just restart Firefox.
I switched to FF2 a few days ago and am really liking it. No problems to speak of. I love the new spell checking. That is the best new feature in Firefox as far as I'm concerned. It has really reduced the amount of cutting and pasting I had to do between Firefox and MS Word when making forum posts. I'm Getting used to the close button being on tabs, which brings FF tabs in line with Opera and IE. Initially Firefox 2 does appear to use less memory than FF1.5, but I'll have to watch this for awhile and see how it is doing after a couple of days of running. Thus far I have no complaints about Firefox 2 compared to FF1.5, I just wish Firefox would implement page zooming the way Opera and now IE7 do instead of just text zooming. For those experiencing freezes in Firefox check to see how much disk space the drive your Firefox cache is on has left available percentage wise. A couple weeks ago I was having terrible problems with Firefox freezing up and I discovered the network drive that I had my Firefox profile on was filling up (over 90% used). Once I cleaned out the network drive and freed up disk space my problems with Firefox freezing up went away.
I installed FF2.0, but a lot of things broke with my extensions so I had to uninstall it and re-install 1.5.0.7 which works great right now. I'll install 2.0 later on when extensions are updated for it.
Ya I lost several extensions as well, but decided I could live without them. In fact some I decided to uninstall all together.
I am using firefox 2 right now. I have 2 minor pet peeves: 1.) in forums, pressing alt+s will bring up the history menu... 2.) in the tabs, it now features a "X" close button. one disadvantage is that whenever I click on a tab where the x button is, I accidentally close it. 1 thing I really like is that it backs up your previous opened windows when you experience like a crash or whatnot.
Extensions are being updated daily so you won’t have to wait long before they’ve been ported to FF 2.0.
It seems that what happens is if I open a site in a new tab and then close it, the navigation bar gets "stuck" on that URL regardless of where I go.
Here's a good review of FF2 at CNet's website: http://reviews.cnet.com/Firefox_2/4505-9241_7-32126746.html
