SEO duplicate content on linkedinl, facebook and other profiles - harmful?

    Hi,

    So I did a copyscape and linked in profile came up with same text as homepage of website.

    Is this a problem with SERPs? or is it understood and not a penalty?

    Your question is not understood. If you mean linked having double content of your site then that is a duplicate content and only one will be awarded. Linked might probably delete the other one or you log into your account and do it yourself.

    Is all of the content from the homepage duplicated on the other sites, or is it just a portion of them? If it is all of the content then I would say yes it could have an impact.

    I would make the text on your homepage unique.

    Its a portion of the text not the whole page.

    Depending on how much of a percentage the portion of the content duplicated is you might be ok, but just to be safe I would rewrite the content on your homepage to be unique though.

    I want to suggest that you should rewrite your duplicate content. As precaution is better than cure. Same thing is applied in Search Engine Optimization. If we know that duplicate content is harmful for our SERP then we should avoid it.
