    Two men have been charged with lobbying in Washington using funds from government officials in Pakistan.

    What was the problem? Are they giving too much competition to pro Israel lobby in Washington?

    It's not just that the Kashmiri American Council were Americans biased towards the interests of Pakistan in the conflict. We have tons of special interests groups in the US. Where they allegedly stepped over the line is that they were extensively funded by the Pakistani government, the Pakistani government themselves made decisions for the group, and this relationship was not disclosed. (At least, that's what the news says. They were just charged, so we'll probably read more as it develops).

    @Gworld

    I'm aware that you don't like Israel. I do. However, this thread has nothing to do with Israel. If I had wanted to start a thread about Israel I would have, but this is a thread about the Kashmiri American Council, and reportedly, the connection it has with Pakistan. As far as your comment (Wiki link), not surprisingly, I don't agree with the insinuation. The Conference of Presidents supports Israel, and other causes. They encourage others to support Israel as well. If the Kashmiri American Council had done the same, they probably would have been okay - even if they encouraged members to agree with the policies of Pakistan. What they've been charged with is:

    Anyway, here's an excerpt from another article on the LA Times:

    If properly investigated, it will go deep down in the rabbit hole.
    I wont be surprised if the Investigators find funneling of funds and money laundering towards terrorist activities.

    The worst bit Kashmir American Council did was to somehow justify the terrorism that Pakistan was sponsoring in the beautiful valley through vicious propaganda. Islamic terrorism in Jammu & Kashmir (thats the full name of the state) in the early nineties led to the migration of at least 90% of the Kashmiri Pandit (Hindu) population of the valley...as they were the principal targets of the terrorists besides Indian security forces. Read about the ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri Pandits here. Most of them have been unable to return due to the continuing threat of violence from militants..there are many whose houses have either been burnt or occupied.
