I'm wondering how much my forum would sell for.

>500,000 impressions/month
quickly encroaching 25,000 uniques/month,
188,000 Alexa
PR4
Monthly Revenue $300-$350/month

- I really just want a general idea of how much I could expect to sell the site for.
- I've fallen out of love with my baby and I need something fresh to get my teeth into.

I will kick this of for you - just a personal view - I'm sure others will not agree ;-)

Personal valuations for an "average" site with the Stats you quote:

$1800 - $3000

However, if it is a niche site that the new owner can personally contribute to or has an interest in, then you can realise a lot more - say $5000 +. The challenge is of course finding a buyer who would have that interest - and in my experience that is usually the hardest bit - and why so often forums sell for a lot less than other sites. I have seen sites with similar stats to yours go for under $1000

Another thing with Forums - and assuming you will no longer be a POSTER (ADMIN) yourself, what effect will that have on the site? (Of course the new owner can assume your identity in the forum)

How many mods do you have?

I would also be looking at the Top 10 posters and wanting to make sure they continued to post etc. If the Forum relies a lot on you, then the valuation MUST be much lower, if however you have a good team of Mods and regular contributors / posters it will be worth more.

Perhaps the biggest challenge to getting TOP DOLLAR will be finding a buyer who also has intimate knowledge of the FORUM FOCUS / Subject

If the site in question is the one in your profile, then personally I could not offer TOP DOLLAR (as I know nothing about it) but might offer AVERAGE DOLLAR if I felt confident about the MODS and REGULAR contributors.

Me leaving the site wouldn't have THAT much of an affect to be honest at this stage as I we have an excellent, trusted, regular set of mods (6 - six) at present and there are your regular posters as you always get. IF I ever sold then of course as all hand over's should go I would offer a couple of weeks of 'guidance' / hints 'n' tips (call i what you will) to ease the transition period..

There's always going to be the Admin backend role, as you know that comes with the territory.

Ok, fair enough. All I can say is the team are great and thousands of members really appreciate the site for what it is and the fact that there's NOTHING else like it on the net.

The site's VERY streamlined - I've made it that way and so much is automated. As above there's still an element of Admin work involved but it's not hours, we're talking a few minutes.
