By providing professional SEO services. This does not entail link wheels, blog commenting and just about anything else you typically found offered in the services section here hope that helps. Start with Dan's sticky thread which no one seems to bother to read. Nigel
For highly competitive keywords Do paid SEO.Means do PPC, CPC. By this you could see your keyword will be in ranking.
Well, to compete for it is a long run process in getting your site a good ranking in search engines. But I think with a good link building tactics would make you go on track. Also, content is still the best weapon for it. I mean, fresh, unique, and quality content to get your site by notice by search engines. Specially with google that like unique content.
Agreed, producing quality content is one of the best ways to rank for competitive keywords. When it comes down to it, one tactic will not do it. A company must implement many different tactics such as SEO, link building, and utilizing social media to get the results they desire.
Start with your own site. Focus on it and write interesting texts for your visitors and not only for Google, Bing and so on. Afterwards you can focus on linkbuilding and so on. But without the right platform it is waist of time!

For ranking high for competitive words, I would peep into my competitors strategy. What they are doing, how they are doing etc, would help me in crafting a good strategy for keyword rankings.
Thanks Nigel, and what a fantastic thread, Its also reassuring that we do thing the right way but there is still some great tips we could benifit from. While I love to code I don't always have time these days and some sites end up with a bit more inline CSS than I would hope, but I always tidy it up and still achieve great results, I really think anyone starting out needs to read Dan's thread. Many Thanks Leon
For dealing with highly competitive keywords, few lines and suggestion is not at all effective. One need to know the details about your website existing potential and then an effective SEO strategy needed to be taken. For this i think you need to take proper advice from a seo professional personally.
You will have a difficult time competing with broad search terms. You're best off targeting long tail keywords to start and over time build up your linkbuilding campaigns to help you climb the ladder. It will be a long and tough climb for highly competitive kw's.
Pretty much how you would rank for any other keyword, but just 10x longer. Continually do the basic SEO, but mix it up and that's how you rank for highly competitive keywords. You can never stop doing your SEO though.
