Does Pagerank affect serp -Pls clarify :)

    HI... i am thinking of seting up a serials,movie download website.... apart from seo like Facebuk, Forum posting, etc.. will increasing the backlinks, geting high pr backlinks(not for traffic) ,,,,, will affect my serp ???

    pls clarify

    What he said. A well SEOed site with good, topically relevant links is going to beat a poorly SEOed site with terrible IBLs without regard to PageRank.

    The big thing PageRank is gonna help you with is going up against a site that is your equal in SEO and IBL quality.

    To my mind, worry about PageRank should be left to the most advanced players. Too many noobs and intermediates obsess about PR and neglect SEO, and that's the exact opposite of how the job should be done.

    How I approach the problem is to focus first on good inbound links. I have a couple networks of sites that I own that make this fairly easy for me. Once the network is together, I focus on content and SEO. But, my network is good enough that I expect nothing less than a pr5 on every site I build, so it's easy for me to tell you PR is a non-issue, because I'm floating around the web with an army of pr5s and a few brigades of pr6s and pr7s.

    Yes it will. Pagerank does matter although its value has decreased a lot these days. But it won't harm. A website with a pr of 2 will be a lot above a website of pr 0 in search engine even if they have similar content..

    Not really, I think more factors come in play.

    I have pr1 sites beating higher pr sites for same keywords, even though keywords is represented in domain and site on competing site.

    That said, higher pr usually also means better SERP

    To OP:
    Building backlinks with your targeted keywords is the key, and the value is usually higher with higher PR backlinks.

    Ya i agree i am not an expert in SEO. But the sites with pr 1 beating higher pr sites must be having some huge keyword optimization?? And btw i have one doubt maybe you can answer that. While building backlinks should i build backlinks to the main domain or to the specific posts???

    Google will assign you a PR based on quality of your backlinks. PR=Reputation of your website in Google's eye.

    It is certainly neither related to SERP rankings nor traffic.

    Pr has nothing to do with rankings, allthough high amount of backlinks will result in higher pr and higher serp.
