I have used (and still use for testing) Firefox 2, Internet Explorer 7, Opera 9, and Safari 2, and I still prefer Firefox over all of the others. I think it has the best support for web technologies and the most customizability.
I haven't found a browser yet that didn't occasionally crash. IE, FF, Opera, it doesn't matter they all will crash under the right/wrong conditions. Although Opera is better than most browsers. Oh and before someone thinks I'm an Opera fan boy, keep in mind that I use Firefox as my primary browser, its just that I spend a good deal of time with all browsers being a developer.
I use both IE and FF, and I like FF better, there are probably 2 reasons for that, first is the flexible enlargement of letters, anf second is better bookmark management, and this is very important, taking in consideration that other featers are the same, FF is much better to me.
IE7 is pretty good and I wouldn't mind using it as my main browser. But I still think FF2 is the superior one here, plus there are many FF extensions that I just couldn't do without. I'm using both the newest versions at work but I keep IE6 and FF1.5 at work for development (to check compatibility). BTW, those who can't write code that follows standards and works on any browser at least to some degree, simply aren't much of a web designer at all.
Firefox sucks, Netscape sucks, Opera sucks, Safari sucks, Internet Explorer sucks, etc. etc. It's time for making a brand new and truely realiable browser
First: Opera hasn't shown ads for about a year now. Second: FF2 doesn't have the memory issue, and is much faster than FF1.5. Third: haven't tried IE7, so no clue on that one.
i am quite satisfied with Fire Fox; has't tried IE 7 ye; so i did't voted against IE 7 but i voted in favor of FF
Within 24 hours of the official launch on Tuesday, there were over 2 million people using Firefox 2, and there was a peak rate of more than 30 downloads per second from the website. For those that don’t remember, here’s what looked like compared to firefox’s earlier releases: Firefox 1.0: 1 million downloads in the first 24 hours. Firefox 1.5: 1.5 million downloads in the first 24 hours Firefox 2: 2 million (actually slightly more) people using Firefox 2 in the first 24 hours. As Mike Beltzner says "Maybe we should jump straight to Firefox 10 and see if we get 10 million users in the first 24 hours" ;-) Seriously, though, this is amazing. 30 downloads per second is just mind-blowing. They’re still crunching the numbers and they hope to have some more stats for you all on Monday or Tuesday so stay tuned! It’s also interesting to compare this to the initial IE7 download stats you cited the other day. Going by downloads alone (2M/day vs. 0.5M/day), one would expect Firefox to be more popular. I’d guess there are three reasons: 1. Firefox users tend to be more… opinionated about their browser than IE users seem to be. "It works" is about as enthusiastic as most IE users seem to get. This is the target audience for automatic updates next month. 2. Firefox probably has a higher concentration of technical/power users than IE, making them both more comfortable upgrading and more interested in upgrading. 3. Since IE is so tied into the operating system, there’s a greater risk of breaking something. Caution is warranted, especially since there are actual Microsoft products that don’t work well with IE7 (older versions of Visual Studio, for instance), so there’s probably a big "wait and see" crowd. Come to think of it, this is the target audience for the IE7 blocker kit. So go ahead and download Firefox 2
Well Id love to sit hear and rant about how freaking bad IE7 is but since I run windows 2000 I CANT FREAKING GET IT! I love how asinine the people at MS can be. I would say a good 50% of American businesses use windows 2k for the simple fact that it's the only platform MS ever made that is stable. So what does MS do to those people? "Oh you can't have our new browser" ...... well personally they have fixed me on Firefox forever! I have been running FF 2.0 for almost a day now and I have to say I LOVE IT. I don't know how they did it but the speed increases are wonderful. I also don't know what everyone is talking about with the crashes either .... maybe it isn't FF at all, maybe it's that wonderful load of winBLOWS XP!
I love the extentions provided by firefox, but too bad that ff always hangs in the middle. My Pc Usage goes directly to 100% . I tried to uninstall and reinstall the same but in vain.and even after asking for solution, i have got no replies for this problem. So for now i am running On IE but if my problem is solved i would definitely go for ff.
I really hate how IE render pages, sometimes it's just stuck there waiting for the images to load while FF keeps the page appearing. Good for users not having broadband (512kbps+). I don't know how can I explain it, but users who have used both will understand. Another issue being, which is still present in IE7, is freezing while refreshing an iframe (shoutbox addons mostly use iframes w/out ajax). Then the w3c compliance and XHTML factors come into play (as somone previous mentioned). My personal preference is FF, although I like Opera too. There's no point of a discussion such as this, because most of the time, its fanboys spoiling the show. I would go by what I like and what fits my needs instead of just picking up one because it has more fanboys.
I always prefer FF compare to IE let it be IE7, which has got lots of its features copied over from FF and Opera. Even though FF needs some more improvements as its cache storage is huge and loads litle slowly initially.
