I have grumblings that Google punishes and even bans autoblogging sites. Is this true? Am I late? What's confusing is people are still talking about autoblogs like thats still a good idea

Autoblogging was never recommended. I have hardly created autoblogs and never used any google adsense at least on any of them even I did so. But then I also got PR on a couple of them though I sold them off after I got PR as I never like or use autoblogs personally. Since then I have never created autoblogs. Affiliate marketing is a bit different and I use blogs where affiliate marketing feeds are dripped and many networks also support it.

Doesn't google even un-index your site when they see that its an autoblog?

Automation when used tastfully hardly causes any concern or negative affects. But just blind re-syndication most likely will end up in your site being sandboxed and worthless. If you intend to approach automation it's absolutely necessary to have a worthy concept in mind before hand. And still if you create a brand new site and only provide duplicate content most likely you will be sandboxed. You could use SEO practices to revive your site out of the sandbox though.

You're pages, although indexed, will rank higher than the 250 possition and Google will hardly send any traffic.

    Higher or lower ;)

@nate331 Google has never clarified that they sandbox sites and there is no known way to know it. But is well known amongst established webmasters. Your site hardly rank for the keyword even after SEO when your site is sandboxed.

There's a lot of misconceptions out here in this blogging sphere!! AutoBlogging seems to be the HOTTEST one :D Google doesn't ban or penalize you if you do AUTOBLOGGING with common-sense! :) Keep your conscience open and you will succeed :)

I'd have to agree with SWAyamdas2010. I'm seeing decent autoblogging sites picking up traffic and PR.
