Switching from IXWebHosting to HostGator

    Greetings,

I am currently using IXWebHosting and would like to switch over to HostGator. Would it be possible to make a tutorial for doing this? I am not really sure about what I need to do to transfer my blogs over without my site being down or losing information.

Also if anyone has made a switch from IXWebHosting to HostGator if you could please share your experiences with me that would be great.

    Hi there,
Didn't Hostgator will transfer your current hosting to Hostgator server?

    Read it here .
    Have a great day

    1) Get your hosting account done in HostGator
    2) Make an exact copy of files and folders in your existing host to and upload it to your HostGator's account
    3) Upload your database to your HostGator's account
    4) Point the DNS to HostGator, and it should be done within few minutes.

Just temporarily put your blogs in maintenance mode to prevent any data loss within the few minutes of DNS change

When you say "all" does that mean all the files that come with the hosting company? Like the cgi folder? Or is it just my wordpress folders?

Not sure how to do this. Have to look into this.

Does IXWebHosting use cPanel? If so, I'm pretty certain HostGator will transfer your site for you.

IXWebHosting uses h-sphere not cpanel. So sadly restoring the cpanel backup on the new HostGator account isn't an option...

In the same regard then, I don't believe HostGator will help with the transfer. All going to have to be done manually.

Yes, HostGator will help with the transfer but I still would like to know how to do it myself. Thank you everyone for the information.

the transfer is limited to cpanel only? Have they confirmed to assist on the migration from h-sphere as well?
What you can do is start from signup with hostgator (as suggested above), move your site content and database over manually.
