250GB of my files has been deleted without notice. Even those that has been active for the last 30 days. It is impossible to catch Rome nowadays. Can't catch him online for the past two weeks. Let me know if there is a way to recover those files. If not, I am not spending another half a year trying to reup those files. Might as well start with other filehost. Filesonic, your support is getting very very bad. So frustrated here.

 

Filesonic deletes free users files after 30 days even if those files are actively downloaded all the time.

You could have remote uploaded to some other hosts like wupload as it would be very difficult to re-upload them & post in forums particularly if the internet is slow & limited.

 

I was stupid to trust Filesonic so much that a lot of my files were hosted solely with them. There is no other backups. I was also stupid enough to think Rome would be online everyday to support. And when you need support most they don't appear for weeks.

 

None of my Hotfiles files were deleted as long as it is active last 30 days. Thought that FS is the same. Was waiting for Rome to renew my account but he never comes online anymore. Thought I could wait a while more. And result is files started to get deleted by itself. There goes half a year of effort. Maybe it is a sign to quit FS.

 

its only your problem that you waited for the last moment to renew your account. you could have done that earlier and save yourself from file deletion

I have sent my request 10 days before expiration. Rome said remind him in 30 minutes and then he never reappear for two weeks.

Hey, i was wondering how's the $35 per 1000 downloads works? It needs a week with 1k downloads or within a month? Also need 1k download from specific country like 1k download from US only get paid or count all the country? As i checked from my stat from 2011-07-01 - 2011-07-13 i got total 823 downloads. Thanks for the explanation.

 

you can even get 1000 downloads within one day. the time period doesn't mean anything, only the quantity of the downloads and of course the rank of the country from which the download originated from.

 

You do not need exactly 1000 downloads as every download counts.

Let say your files are at 251-400MB range

The payouts for that filesize are at Group A - USD25/1000, Group B -USD19/1000 downloads, Group C-USD14/1000

Let say you have 400 from Group A and 200 From Group B and 200 from Group C

Calculation counts for every single downloads

Group A earnings = 400 x 25 / 1000 = USD10
Group B earnings = 200 x 19/1000 = USD 3.80
Group C earnings = 200 x 14/1000 = USD2.80

Total = USD 10 + USD 3.80 + USD 2.80 = USD16.60

Once you hit USD15 or more you will be paid the following Wednesday (that is if you are using paypal)

 

Just reporting from my live experience, a depositfiles/filesonic/wupload comparison, if you guys may find it of interest :

- depositfiles takes a long time to start off, but in the long term it pays better, and it seems that unpopular countries are still earning decent money.
They seem to pay more on a "number of files" downloaded basis than on a "how huge is the shared file" basis. That means it's better to share numerous small files than one super huge file.
An uploaded file lasts 90 days without being downloaded, the rest of the industry only offers 30 days.
Their internal interface still works, but it's is a damn mess and will take a long time to load if you have thousands of files.
They offer us coupon codes we can give to anyone we like, so that some people can benefit from temporary premium statuses (very rough estimation, if you as an uploader have earned 500$, then that must mean you should be able to offer 2 or 3 times a one-month free membership, plus additional smaller duration memberships as a bonus).
Lastly, they have a discount coupon code to make long term (6mo, 1y) memberships cheaper, and if someone uses it there's 5 or 10% of the membership price for us, advertised well alongside the depositfiles download links, it can be an additional 5% earnings.
In 5 years using them, never a payment problem, mind you they don't pay fast.

- filesonic : does that host even know the meaning of shaving ? Surprisingly, it seems they do respect the earnings calculation they promised, from my experience, it's a first. Small files as well as large files earn well.
In the short term : earns more than depositfiles. In the long term, earns as much.
Their internal interface is smooth, works well, and "makes sense", the user is not lost.
Offering discount coupons to advertise seems to go against their philosophy, I could never convince them of it.
Unlike depositfiles, they count premiums generated from your website as a referrer, it's certainly a good bonus.
In almost 3 years using them (they started as Sharingmatrix), never a payment problem, they pay fast and on tight schedule.

- wupload is new so my information may become obsolete very fast, but they're a host with a severe bias towards large files. If you only share small files, below 100MB, filesonic or depositfiles will be better. However, if you share files above 100MB (and break the 400 MB size for heaven to appear), they're outrageously more proffitable than anyone else in the industry.
Not much shaving, no discount coupons.
Their interface is extremely simple but doesn't make much sense (from the earnings page, no direct link to the upload page, for instance), it may be confusing.
So far I only had one payment, but it went as scheduled.

So that 1k down are for specific country only, and it can't be mixed with different country right? Thanks for the explanation, much appreciate.
