I have also heard lot about window 8 and having many expectation from it. For this I have to use it anyhow I think it something better than 7.
It seems they are speeding things up quite a bit. In my opinion they should take their time and do something really original. So far it seems that the new operating systems from MS are simply the previous ones with more shiny interfaces and a 'service pack' included. Thats how it works for Vista and 7 from my own observations. As for the browser, I've never used IE, mostly due to the lack of proper security and interface problems. Instead I'm sticking with firefox.
I have been using windows and have not faced any issue with win 7. I feel it all depends on the kind of apps that we install on the OS. And when it comes to the number of apps available, Windows beats the rest of the pack, and with this it also gets a lot of junk stuff in its list of apps which inturn causes the problems. If you need to actually compare things, then it will be plain OS to OS and apps only from the OS makers. that in my sense is the actual test. Just by using windows and loading every possible app and using linux with its limited set of apps and comparing them will not give correct results.
You should try google chrome. Its faster than firefox And can some1 pls visit my site given in my signature and provide some suggestions I tried it in the review forum but only 1 person replied and now my post is dug deep in the 2nd page. Please suggest some tips to improve my site. Do you like the design and the conten t? Should i continue blogging?? Thanks in advance.. PS- I created this windows 8 preview for my blog first and then post it here
To be clear, since *nix is aimed at professionals, and not amateurs like Windows is, there are far fewer toy and garbage applications such as there are on Windows. But anything a professional needs is available on *nix and not "limiting" at all.
hmm I agree with you, but you can't also say disagree with the fact that most of the professionals are using windows
Unless that professional is developing FOR Windows, his operating system of choice will be *nix. *nix is far more advanced, far more flexible with far more tools and far more productive and efficent than anything you can do on Windows. As I said, Windows is for amateurs. Professionals use *nix.
why do you feel that only software developers are professionals, even a doctor, engineer in other branches, Law, or anything else is also a professional. And also I feel windows is on 90%+ desktops around the world. I myself worked for HP, and there Windows was the primary OS. Mate, also I did not intend to make this thread a Windows great, Linux great thread... Yes windows is for amateurs and *nix is for Professionals ....
On a web development forum, I'd suspect that's the topic of interest and not doctors. As far as computer users are concerned, most of those using the desktop are amateur users and only view the operating system given to them as part of the tool. Making the tool as easy as possible for the amateur user means giving them Windows in most cases. That's true but Windows is almost non-existent in any other environment.
I just reinstalled my version of Windows 7 for the first time. It was an easier process than an xp reinstall. However, I think that it one of the downfalls of windows is that the operating system becomes so choked up with bloat with a year of use that you need to reinstall it again to get back to the original speed of your computer. They really need a way to just clean out all of the o/s bloat. The good news for me is that Windows 8 should be out around the same time I'll be needing to do my next reinstall of Windows 7.
Hopefully, Windows 8 Beta will be released soon so we can play around with it like when Windows 7 Beta released.
I fail to see how Windows 8 is any different than Windows 7, with an added layer on top of touch interface.
I have used Windows 7 & Ubuntu for a long time now. From my experience, I can crash Ubuntu far easier than I can Windows 7. Windows 7 is solid
