    It may one of the few applications that can actually put a dent into Google. Which is why Google is probably considering their own facebook type application.

    Facebook is not lauching a search engine but it has launched it's own email facility to beat all mailing sites so that all facebook users send mail messages through their own facebook mail id.

    If going by the words what zuke said, he will not go in for a search engine. He will team up with others, like he is doing now with Bing to fight google, rather than going behind google. As he says, he just wants to concentrate on making FB better by joining hands with leaders in other technologies.

    Yes it is true that Facebook is also in Search Engine business but Facebook Search Engine will be based on Personalized Search that will be a great rival for Google General Search. Google is in process of personalized search but still not having great success in recent times. Lets see when Facebook launch its Search Engine and what will be the success rate?

    They actually are working on one right now. With all their active users and returning visitors, they have the best chance at competing with them.

    Although for me, Facebook is Facebook. I would never use it as a search engine.

    Hmm where did you get this info from? And if FB do so, It will slowly get popular and if it tries it can take over google. But it needs a long journey to take over google.
