Simple. Install their toolbar. You can also put a link to their tool bar on your website and encourage your visitors to use it.

getting your own site in top 500,000 is as simple as installing toolbar and visiting your own site.

For example, if you had the toolbar installed, and you had say a blog, just by making 1 or 2 blog posts a day, you are going to at least 10 pages on your site. After a month or so, your ranking will improve. The next thing to do is of course to get real traffic to your site - a small % of the site visitors will in fact have the Alexa toolbar installed, which will further improve your rank.

IMO trying to get a high Alexa ranking has about the same merits as trying to get a high PageRank - both of these are measures only for webmasters - the average web surfer couldn't give a toss about either of these measures, and it is the average web surfer you are trying to attract to your site afterall.

You are doing this via "manipulation"? Or is your rank improving because of traffic? Obviously your rank will improve with traffic - I said you cannot manipulate it.

This forum http://www.indianwebmaster.org few days back....is a pritty new site , with few members registered.

I am pritty sure its alexa rank is not real....im using google analytics for tracking visiters.

once when i did few alexa hacking, it started ad 40,000 rank, and averaged 600,000 for 3 months, the site is just 10 days old.

I think that is from your traffic - for a 10 day old forum, it looks like you have some good activity (congrats on that). How were you "alexa hacking"?

It's soooo easy to get your Alexa Rank into the 100k or less. I've gone from 2.8million to 98k in less than 65 days. Dead simple, you can do it on your own following a few easy steps.

So if someone was to order 1 million visitors off eBay, then their Alexa rank would increase a lot?

Why dont you focus on getting better search engine rankings? That would increase your Alexa rank for good, increase real traffic, sales, income and the value of your site. Trying to cheat Alexa could only get you dubious rank which is only temporary and its not any creation of value.

It is not very accurate to say that Alexa Rank is very inaccurate :)
When Alexa Rank gets lower and lower, it gets more an more accurate. The top 10,000 rankings by Alexa is fairly accurate just like any stats. Even ranking up to 50,000 can be trusted to some extent! Do you think Google PR and other ranks are highly accurate?

Just visit Alexa once a day and do a search for your site, then click on it. Over a month you'll start to see your rank climb. That is why no one cares about Alexa rankings anymore.

Why would you want to manipulate it?

It's a tool to gauge how well your site is doing in terms of traffic.

I first started my site 3 weeks ago, and the Alexa ranking was roughly 5,000,000.

As of yesterday, the ranking is 187,000.

Not bad I guess for a few weeks.

The site I'm referring to is Infinity Web Directory

Thank you all for all your kind reply. But i still can't find anything that help me to boost my alexa ranking.

Like I said, I'm selling direct ads, and many (if not all) of the advertisers consider Alexa so much.

Please tell me that simple steps if you really have it :D

I have use your site for quite some time now, but it hasn't significantly improve my ranks

FYI, I owned an autosurf related site and who cares? advertisers care so much about it. That's why I wanted so much to get a very low Alexa ranks, under 100,000 would be great.

So, again, how can I boost my alexa rankings? Is it enough by getting lost of traffic?

    Thanks again,

    axlarry

axlarry - this is what I have encountered also. People say "Alexa is easy to manipulate" - yet no one is really willing to demonstrate it being done. I have had people give me explicit details, which I tried - but saw NO CHANGE.

    Alexa cannot be manipulated.

Install the toolbar, visit your own site. Sign off from your ISP, sign back on again and visit your site. If you are on a fixed IP then there isn't any point in signing off and on, and you are limited to some degree to how high your Alexa ranking can go. Alexa records the IP address.

If you're on a fixed IP, you could get one of your mates, who has the toolbar installed, to visit your site.
