They would effectivly make a profile. Then sell you stuff based on this.

Also at the rate Google is going they are expected to double in size by 2010!

So in other words "G" would act as if they were the NSA, with all there massive computing power to finally go against the US's CRAY systems. One big battle royale for all of the world's information..WOW!!

I bet that if htye will create an OS, it will be based on Linux (because they like the free word) , however they will it with ad-words everywhere... so if you type something in "notepad"... you will see some ad-words for the last 5 types words :)

I think when Microsoft will be able to compete with Google for internet business at that time Google might be able to release any OS.

today i think Microsoft has so much success in OS niche that its difficult enough for any new comer to stay they have achieved more what Google has achieved in their niche. :)

Google already uses its own operating system for its servers, so cannot see why not.

However even if Google releases an OS, it is extremely improbable that they will be successful. MS is too strong in this sector.

If google DO come out with their own OS, I'm gonna sneak in to the factory where the disks are being made and somehow get my firefox referral on!

Reminds me of "personalized search" that keeps tracks of all the stuff you searched for but they are a good company and they wouldn't risk their billions or their brand by selling private and personal information.

There are plenty of ways to make money from free software especially if you’re a big interne company. Imagine each time you logged on there would be a list of software you could buy and hundreds of links to Google partner sites ready to sell you everything you could possibly want. They would have your credit card number already on file and all you needed to do is use Google check out.

It's really strange. I mean Linux is a available for free and it seems to be better...yet MS Windows dominates the market....May be Google will put an end to this...:)

Unfortunately Linux still has a very long way to go. I’ve tried nearly all distros and they all have their respective problems. Do you use linux?

Why? To get stuck supporting it? They will never want to hire support people.

Google tries to automate everything and it always feels like there are only five people working for Google: Larry, Sergey, Eric, Matt and Vanessa. No, wait, there is also Adam! ... On a second thought he might be just an AI software :D

Yeah...I'm eagerly waiting for it since 2005. I'd be a good decision if it comes out in 2007. They have many talented people working for them. And maintaining an OS would be real easy job for them.

    I think :
    1. It's be named GoOS ( Go! OS or GoOs like BeOS...ha ha ha)
    2. Have google apps like Gdesktop, FF+GToolbar, GTalk, GMail Access,Picasa and all the stuff loaded.
    3. Revenue from contextual ads and search results on programs and search. ( with revenue share for GoOS users. you wont get your own ads on your Pc, but a fellow GoOS user)
    4. Support linux, mac as well as windows filesystems and file types.
    5. Minimum footprint and low resource consumption.
    6. Very few hotfixes and patches unlike MS.

Let's hope for it atleast...Google, are you hearing me ? Or should I try adwords... LOL
