Why is PageRank So Important to You?

I thought I'd open this thread to discuss the importance (or unimportance) of PageRank. Every month there are several threads here where people ask how to improve their PageRank. So I'd like to ask a question. Why is PageRank important to you?

Your answer could be as simple as...

It's not!

or

I read that it helps your rankings.

I'd just like to hear what people have to say. I personally don't think it's that important. As I've said many times on this forum, I've seen absolutely no correlation to my rankings/traffic and PageRank. My PR has gone down, but traffic gone up. In my opinion, PR is just a measuring stick developed by Google that reflects how many "quality" inbound links you have on your site at any given time. It's not necessarily a reflection of your potential or rankings. I do check on it from time to time out of curiosity, but that's about it.

So, I ask. Why is PageRank Important to You?

Well, It's not an important for me. It's just a number. PR doesn't bring traffic, all you need is SERPs.

 

PageRank is not important for me. The growth of online business is enough

 

PR is not as important as before, but it indeed offer you the convenience to exchange links.

 

OKie here is some insight:
Page rank in simple words mean that the google bot will visit that page more often and give it some trust rather than pages which have zero or n/a pagerank.. What that means is your content get indexed sooner.. which in turn means that your pages get added to search engine earlier.. which inturn means you will somewhat rank better then your competitors provided you go ahead and do some decent backlinking to that particular serp.

 

Page rank does not matter the google traffic. I've seen no correlation my rankings/traffic and PageRank. My PR has gone down, but traffic gone up. PR is just reflects the "quality" at google.

 

yes , quality traffics is the importantest one , for you know my terminal aim is to get money !

 

There is no such evidence or experience to prove that page rank has some thing to do with googel crawling rates. So your explanation is not acceptable to me.

 

Page rank is Google's calculation that what is the probability of any web domain being visited by random web surfer Th erotically it is important to have higher PR for better traffic. But what we have observed that most of the organizations now depend over traffic from Google rather then random traffics. Still Good Page rank is important for increased monitory value of your domain and it also reduces your chances of getting banned from google and other search engines. In conclusion of the above ys it is important

I thought page rank was important because it gives you visibility on search engines?? If a person types in "flower shop, california" and your site is on page 3 instead of page 1, isn't it very unlikely that they will even get to your site? Most people don't bother going past the 1st page and if they do, will only scan briefly through the 2nd page.

I suppose it isn't important for all sites, but with certain kinds of businesses it seems like page rank could indeed help their sales and visits.

Or am i completely wrong? haha.

 

I've read in many articles, all theorized of course, that PR doesn't effect SERPs. o.o Therefore it isn't important to me.

 

This thread is ridiculous. Page rank is extremely important, is measures the authority of your website and page in terms of SEO.

What no one has pointed out is that the OP is talking about the toolbar page rank. I still think toolbar page rank is important because it's an indicator of a site's SEO authority according to Google.com at some point. The problem is when SEO spammers and link sellers arbitrarily increase their toolbar PR and make is an innacurate indicator.
