I am interested in buying a server and offering my own hosting service. Some factors that come to mind are bandwidth limits within my internet, and generally how to set it up. Would I have to upgrade bandwidth limits for my current service to offer hosting? or is there anyway around it? Also, how do you set up a hosting system?
Are you talking about providing hosting from your computer at home? Don't even bother. Far too much of a hassle, and nobody wants to be hosted in your bedroom, when for $2/mo. they can be hosted in a world class datacenter. If you want to host personal websites from your home, that's a different story. Secondly, if you don't know how to "set up a hosting system" you're probably not ready to be in the business yet. Not trying to be mean, but there is a reality when it comes to having and offering services.
^ Agreed with WSWD. Do some research in the field, learn a few things, then when you know abit more, try again. I'll give you a little bit of advice though. Don't buy a dedicated server. Start on a reseller then work your way up as needed. I started on a reseller and now im on a dedicated server. and when your good enough like WSWD you'll prolly have your own racks
If you have an interest in providing web hosting services, a good place for you to start would be getting a reseller web hosting account and maybe just start off by offering web hosting services to a couple of friends?
Under no circumstances should you run a hosting operation on your home Internet connection. You want to host your own sites on there...go right ahead...but to attempt to sell that under the guise of a professional hosting service to others...don't do it. Dedicated Servers, Co-Locations, Reseller Programs, are all too inexpensive these days for you to even bother doing this out of your home. BURSTNET . .
Are you looking for UK web Hosting server or US Web Hosting Server. I will suggest you to go with company offering Managed dedicated server, this will help you grow fast.
It does not seem as though you are ready to manage your own hosting company. I agree with the other replies, look into a reseller program to get your feet wet.
Yes a reseller program will work for you. But if you are going to do it yourself then I highly recommend a managed server. This will let your host tech people worry about the server and you can focus on finding clients. You may also be able to work it out with the host to help you with tech issues or something along those lines. Kinda like a reseller Best of Luck
Hi, Go for Reseller hosing, there are many best reseller hosting providers out there, even if you buy dedicated server, there is lot of technical and costumer support headaches are there and there won't much big saving though on self hosting
