SO fair us free members are nothing to digitalpoint just a bunch of spammers is what your saying. :p Bump up the cost of paid memberships now they are worth more. At least you waited until the PR update. :p

I think DP will fail more with all the limitations your putting on signatures. :D

If the success of a site is based on the ability for third-parties to put links on your site without a nofollow attribute, I'm curious why you use nofollow links on the site in your signature? lol

Damn, gotta give it to you, you don't miss one thing, lol. Personally, I'd say this is a bad move for DP in the long run. It's just yet ANOTHER change to benefit those who pay to be a member here, I guess. Oh well.

Why do you think it's a bad thing in the long run?

Not really, members who have Keyword | Keyword | Keyword signatures are almost always low quality posters. Human eyes are still able to see your sig so it isn't like having a DP signature is useless now.

PageRank has nothing to do with it. If we were PageRank 10, we would get the same amount of traffic as PR0. PageRank != traffic.

Guys, I think Shawn has tried enough to finally have to do this. It's not his first choice. Spam is very very annoying. You have to personally fight them to know that, if you have a fairly popular community.

I guess it's just a cycle. Many old days webmaster forums are implementing nofollow to prevent spam. Then new webmaster forums are created to grab all the disgruntled members who love dofollow posts / signatures, until one day those forums have to use nofollow to fight spam because they have become too popular.

Spam is only not a problem until people are required to have a social security id to get an IP address.

Keyword sig links are descriptive and good for SEO. Not only that, its a requirement to fit all your sig links with the restrictive character limit. Also, would you expect any differently.... on wait for it... a SEO forum.

Now I'm sure you are going to tell me its spammy to use the maximum available sig links.

Your system that labels "potentially spammy" sucks big time, you may want to revise scripts that suck before putting them live. Everything with review in title is spammy lol. Personally i dont give a dime for nofollow - dofollow (no effect on serps, verified in 4 years, at least for the links from this forum), i have no problem with no follow but this "script" is lol, especialy it applies to paying members, which are a few, so a review process would be a 5 minute job.

But hey lets piss off paying people with a "script"

You're right about that, but I donated to help the cause back in the day. Did you? If you didn't, you're not a premium member, well then of course why would you care, you've contributed nothing to this site. And if you don't think premium members shouldn't be entitled to more then free members, well then thats just being silly.

I wonder if the sponsor links being sold back in the day if you donated more then $500 were labelled as "potentially spammy". My gut tells me they weren't.

If you stay up there on the cross much longer we'll need to move this thread to P&R.

This is really a PAINFUL decision. Please find out the Spams & make their Signature NoFollow. The people should not suffer those are not spamming.

You have picked up the word "suffering" smartly but have not comment on "Please find out the Spams & make their Signature NoFollow"!!!

Well, first of all... your grammar is wrong. Secondly, I have better thing to do than go though 16,000,000 posts and look at every link in it and do an evaluation if I like their link or not.
