Too many bold words on blog post articles?

My site is IdolSmack.com and it is of course about American Idol. I have just started this blog and blogging altogether. The main question I have is am I putting in too many bold words in the articles. Especially some of the older articles I would really spend a lot of time putting in bold or italics because I was told Google would give it more ranking. However, I notice a lot of the big time blogs only bold a few words in an article with a couple of links. Any thoughts or opinions on this?

I only bold words when I want to give them meaning or when I want my readers to focus on what I am saying about a particular subject.
Too much formatting within a post is going to turn off readers. I would keep it simple and format only the parts of the post that scream importance!

Oh yeah, sorry, I am using Wordpress. as far as density I would prefer to not go over 2 to 3 percent. However I hear some say no more than 5 to 7 percent.

You don't really want to just highlight words. Make sure these are keywords that are relevant to your post and if they are anchor texts too, then they should link to websites or internal pages that are relevant to your posts.

Hope that helps. Have a good day!

It does. However, when I link to other pages on my site, I get the pesky emails telling me that I have pingbacks. I have been allowing them. Should I be?
