No peabrain It's quite obvious you believe in it, that doesn't mean you're not brainwashed into it from a young age by your parents and the church. Had your parents been scientologists you'd be singing the same tune about it right now
You know there are some who think I have been brainwashed. You know how I reply to that? "You are dead right!". Have a think about that for a while. Col
So I suppose over 500 pages of extra information, revelation, historical documents, and enlightenment isn't worth looking into? The Book of Mormon isn't just a religious text; it's a historical record of what is now the Native Americans (living on reservations now... but used to roam this land - what is left is the Lamanites!) in our country. They roamed these plains, etc... in fact, I live right behind some burial grounds - that I'm sure Lamanites built. (Historians confirm it too, ... well, as "Native Americans" not "Lamanites", of course.) It is now a state preserve.
How do you explain the millions of coverts to the church then and their strength in it? They were Brainwashed too?
Man, I would give anything to get away from technology completely. I've often said that some day when I sell the biz, I am moving to Montanna to set up a cattle ranch. No TV, no computers, no cell phones, pagers... NOTHING.... Well, maybe my iPod. I would be lost without that!
What is fact? EDIT: Oooo Col, nice post edit. Too bad I got your original post quoted ... Still, tell me: What is fact? How do you know the Bible is fact?
What if it is fact? How do you explain the hundreds of hystorical artifacts found in north and south america that help prove its validity?
Don't bother answering the question, it's obvious now Why does any religion spread? Because you're offering a fairy tale ending to life to a bunch a scared people. Who doesn't want to believe in some magical great fairy tale ending to all the struggles after life? Just because you want it doesn't make it so
That's too great a question to answer in one hit don't you think? Put it this way. I have been studying the Bible solidly for nearly 4 years and I have not found one single flaw in it's teachings. This is somewhat a different view to the book of Mormon. Col
He doesn't, just like you don't know the mormon book is fact. You've replaced fact with faith and refused to believe in anything disputing your faith, mainly the entirety of science
You could start with the part where god creates earth in 7 days or whatever... we all know that's make believe . Then you could move on to the flood and wood boat Hey col, is JW's part of the ones who think earth is only 6,000 (or so) years old? Now that's comedy!
You're looking on a one-way road. Remember, this is a two-way road! As shown, "apparently" the Book of Mormon contradicts the Bible. Or does the Bible contradict the Book of Mormon? Notice that the Book of Mormon has only been translated ONCE: not many many times with edits, changes, and other "fitting" to make it sound good The Book of Mormon came directly from its source. The Bible... well... had a much less direct route. I could find many many flaws to any version of the Bible (even King James, without the JST) - but we are taught not to Bible-bash.... Why not study the Book of Mormon for four years (as I have in early morning seminary classes) - and see if you cannot find a single flaw in its teachings?
Well there you have it Yoga! You have made another statement about science contradicting the Bible. "Yawn". It's a bit repetitive isn't it? Not just repetitive but also is not so. Take a look back in our history of threads Yoga. We have been down this path before and as always your road comes to an end. Col
What do you have against any religion then? Tell me what is wrong with something that brings peace and happiness to someone's miserable life? Have you read the Book of Mormon? Study the Book of Mormon for 4 years and THEN tell me that Please don't take all your information from a few people online that have totally biased opinions... thats unfair for everyone
What???? 6,000 years old? We know Adam & Eve were put on this earth approx. 6,000 years ago, but from memory recollection at this moment I don't seem to recall that being INSTANTLY after the earth was made. Yo-yo, how do you know that creating an earth in 7 days is make-believe? (Actually, Christ created it under God's direction) - how do you know he didn't?
