People seem to be coming to our site "directly" more often than I believe is realistic. I say this because every day we see people coming "directly" to URLS of blog entries I JUST submitted and bookmarked around the internet. I've read that Twitter sometimes counts as Direct Traffic but I've been using the URL tool to create custom URLs to deal with that. What else might be being counted as Direct Traffic when it may actually be people clicking on referring links? Thanks.
But according to me direct traffic is less helpful as compare to search engine traffic because you can get long term results from search engine traffic.
HI I think Direct traffic is less helpful according to the Search Engine traffic. Coz the visitors who knows your site can came directly, but in search engine traffic you can get the new visitors and customers too which can improve your visitors as well as revenue too. Please check my website rottermond dot com i have improved my traffic more than 100% within some time with the help of SEO services. Thanks
Hi, i don't the solution to your problem but try Google URL builder than any other tool to create custom URL.
Just one question. Doesn’t direct traffic also include those with java turned off in their browser? I realize this is quite a small % of visitors, but is this the case?
direct traffic is possible if your webstie is quite popular or it is searched from the name of the website name itself
>> Any traffic which is coming from any unknown source is Direct traffic... where the referrer (might be any web page, email etc) unknown ... Google do not provide any identification of this traffic as it does for other traffic sources.. Direct Traffic can be considered as - - If some one Types in your site URL in the browser and come directly on your site, or if some one has bookmarked your site url and he is accessing your site using that bookmark. - Also it could be like - if some one is clicking your site link in some e-mail, or in some campaign, newsletter etc. - Some one click your site link given in some e-mail or in any document like .Doc, .Xls you might have sent in some sort of report. - Any redirects from your server etc. Cheers~
If you're using GA, it's possible that the GA code isn't on every page of your blog/site. In this case, if someone is on your site with code -> then hits a page without GA code -> then hits your blog post, they are going to show up as 'direct'. If you have a common header/footer where you placed the GA code, this isn't highly likely, but it's still a possibility to consider. We see this problem frequently. People write to our support asking why they have so many directs, we check their site and see the tracking code missing from some pages. Anyway, just a thought. Good luck.
Direct traffic is possible, even i do have lots of direct traffic but when my site is searched for name of the website from search engine Google analytic shows that visitors came thru search engine.
So far i din get direct traffic which from referral site. Maybe Google analytic unable to track the link you have build around. Everyone is happy if you got lot of direct traffic. Mostly popular website and domain name only will have lot of direct traffic. It also mostly search by repeated customers.
