I'm an SEO consultant and not much of a writer. I know people hire writers for ad copy, content creation, blogging, and SEO but as a consultant, I'm curious as to how much of my time I should spend on writing. How important is writing for an SEO consultant?
If you do not feel comfortable writing and are honest with yourself then it is ok to outsource this portion of it. Just make sure that whoever you outsource it to clearly understands your needs and expectations, and then make sure you review any content going up on the site to ensure it is optimized and high quality. Personally, I think all SEOs should be proficient in writing some form of copy whether that is the title tags, meta descriptions, ad copy and even up to an entire article. So if you are not comfortable writing at the moment try writing some small portions at first and I am sure you will improve over time. SEO is becoming more specialized over time, and copy writing is one skill level that is starting to be outsourced more often. Since it is becoming more specialized it is important to focus on what you are really good at, but of course the more you are good at the more in demand your services will be. So if you find someone who produces high quality content then make sure you maintain that contact because it can be golden.
it is said that content is the king. when it comes to writing, you need writings for not just onsite content but for promotion also. article submission, press releases, web 2.0 page creation for backlinks, all require articles. instead of thinking of it as a %, think of how many pages of content you would need to properly populate your site. then regarding content or articles for promotion, it all depends on your link building or promotional campaign
Content writing is really artistic. People reading the content should be more impressed in your website and its quality. If you write for Search Engines, you may get traffic but the end results may not be fruitful. So while writing content make sure to write it for the best, and as sultanofseo said, there are many places where content are valuable while building links.
content writing is very important in seo..People readding your website content should be impressed..you can not use duplicate content in for your website..
Have been thinking about outsourcing content especially in terms of blogging...what is the best way to go about doing this ? How do I find someone who is 'good' ?
As everyone have expressed in this thread CONTENT IS KING, you should be able to bind the keywords in a meaningful sentence. Over a period of time you can improve your writing skills then there is no need for you to consult the writer.
Thanks for the tips guys. I guess my beef with the whole SEO consultant role is the fact that you are really writing for someone else. My client is a therapist and has studied for over 20 years in the field. And now, somehow, I am suppose to take the reigns and start writing quality content for her. The content on our website is good and our rankings are pretty good as well. There are certain keywords that we want to improve our rankings with and therefore I'm trying to think of a strategy without her having to waste time thinking of an article to write. You could say I'm at a crossroads with my client...
Quality and well written on-site content that is keyword rich is vital and even more important than ever for search positioning on google.
It depends. You obviously can't write content for a therapist or some other highly skilled profession. I think that is a tough one. If it is just basic website content, have her write it and then you can go back and massage it into SE friendly material. If you need dozens of articles then I guess you would have to outsource it, but make sure you get it written from someone reputable. You dont want to give important advice that isn't correct.
It is THE MOST IMPORTANT thing for a site you need to start with a good quality content site, until you don't have any unique and quality content for your site its like impossible to think about doing better in SERPs. Because content is what everyone is looking for the users, search engines everyone. Now Google has become so strict about content that need to have unique and quality content. If you are a good writer then its good for you but if not its better that you hire one. Content is all you need and the rest would become easy for you. If you start providing what people are looking for you'll get the links by-yourself.
Content value is more in SEO field. If you want to promote a site quickly and google guideline then you should submit unique content.
I already have quality content on my client's website. I'm talking about content creation. You don't stop once you have good content on the site. If your client is a professional in their field, why would they have the SEO consultant do the writing?
