You can but personally I wouldn't invest any money in a parked domain.

    The simple answer is "No"

    When in doubt, Google it.

You will NOT get penalized for building links to your domain...........

There is no real point trying to "SEO" the domain if you plan on parking it.
Google de-index domains that are parked using AdSense for Domains Like this one.
So the only reason someone would be adding links to their parked domains is to promote and drive traffic to them (which isn't allowed).

Huh? Can you guarantee that? Because this thread on the Google AdSense help forum begs to differ

That's just another forum where somebody else is asking and newer members are answering. It's not official Google TOS page for one. For 2, what if somebody did it to a site to sabotage it? They couldn't seriously penalize people for that. For 3, There are millions of domains that have back links. What about people who buy old sites and just park them? A lot of them have back links and they don't get banned.
I'm not saying I would waste time and money building links to a parked domain, just saying you couldn't be banned for having back links to a parked domain.

Edit: I do see now that one of those guys is an employee of Google. But I still feel the same way. If they banned people for having back links to parked domains there probably wouldn't be half of them. Plus that would discourage people from using Adsense for domains.

It may be just another forum, but its owned and run by Google... Someone asked a question about a Google product, and a Google employee who works with that product answered the question. He also said that it... "would be a violation of our policies".
How much more official can it be?

I agree, I've even tried to get someone at Google to answer that, but to no avail.
As for them not penalizing someone for it, don't be so sure.
Most of the time Google don't even give a reason, they just say something like 'pose a risk to our advertisers'.

Yeah but he's not talking about old expired links, they're fine (Google even say it on their 'What is AdSense for Domains' page "Users often type domains into their address bar or follow expired links leading to sites with no content..."
He's talking about creating new links to drive traffic, and that goes against the AdSense for Domains Program Policies.

    Anyway, I'm just saying.

    Cheers

Right on. I don't use Adsense for domains anyway so it don't matter to me. This will probably be a reason why I never will either. If there is this chance of getting banned if somebody links to a parked domain of mine. If I park a domain I will be sure to use somebody else now for sure just to protect myself from getting banned from Adsense. (good one Google)
