    You have selected a bright field database is very demanding as it is used in every field to initially you need to learn SQL or ORACLE then if you are perfect in this then you can go for SQL server 2005 or 2008. BEST OF LUCK!

    I suggest Radhakrishnan(book for database) or Korth (foreign author book).nd definitely the decision is itself courageous .nd for any help .we are here:)

    Its your nice curiosity to learn to Database: I suggest You learn Oracle 11i or 12i which are the latest version of oracle which is affiliated to California university.You can do OCA,OCP & DBA after that Oracle Developer Course.

    You can take Ivan Bayross for database or for baby steps you can take sql headfirst oreilly publication.
    Hope it will help you for making a strong foundation of your knowledge.

    SQL is a language, Oracle is a company that sells databases (they have more than just the "Oracle" that everyone knows) that use SQL.

    Buy a book about the SQL language.If you're good at the mathematic stuff you will understand it easy,as SQL is not hard to learn at all.
