How do I promote my blog and my blog posts?

I know content distribution is critical in SEO. I have a Blogger that I keep updating but how do I get traffic to it?

Side question: The blogger is separate from the main website. It links to the main website but does anyone know how to integrate the blog posts from Blogger onto the main website?

I agree - Don't try and get people on to your main site via the blogspot blog. Work on building some backlinks to your main site and that will bring in traffic organically.

 

Where do you need to build traffic? The blog or the website? Or both?
You need to optimize both sites if you want them to rank and get traffic. You do this for each site. You can't expect that the traffic going to your blog will naturally go to your website, even though the website is linked to the blog. So you need to optimize them individually.

 

You can use social medias such as twitter and facebook to promote your blog.

 

I am new to this forum, and came here to generate traffic to my blog, i have work hard for the site, but not able to generate traffic? can you please tell guide me how i can create quality backlink without spending money?

there are so many methods to promote the blog to get good traffic you must have good ranking on the search engines for your top keywords to do it you must have to concentrate on seo .

for this do social bookmarking, try to post your article on article directory then you will get good backlinks from it and also try to submit your website in different directory...

The Important Thing is try to provide good and fresh content on your blog because people like to to view new stuff which make your blog different from another blogs...

How would you go about an article submission to promote your blog? Would you write separate articles for EZineArticles.com and link back to your blog or your website? Isn't is very counterproductive to do that since you have to write additional articles that won't be on your blog? Same with directory submissions, I'm not sure if you're referring to the blog or the website.

 

There are many effective ways to promote your blog. After you write a post for your blog, re-write it as an article and submit to article directories, linking to your home page and your new post.

I'm confused by your answer. Do you mean submit the blog to directories? I have been submitting the website to directories and our rankings are very good for some keywords. And again, I'm confused by the fact that everyone is telling me to write fresh content on my blog AND submit articles to article directories. Does this mean I have to write two separate articles? I can't submit duplicate content, right?

 

Thanks Guisbar, your answer is more direct. I'm coming to a crossroads with my client regarding the last point you made. My client has 20 years experience in her field so I would have no idea how or where to direct the content creation process. Also, are there any tips for we-writing blog posts? How much do you change? All of it? It seems so counter intuitive to re-write content just for the sake of slipping by the forbidden duplicate content rule on the web. This is the only part that puts a damper on the job because it's not your writing, it's you having to write for your client. It's almost like our job is to cheat through high school.

 

Isn't there a best practice out there for integrating your blog into your website? I'm still trying to learn the API and make sure that it is SEO friendly. Optimizing two separate sites for the same client, in my opinion, should be avoided if you can swing it.
