Is it a good idea to add the Nofollow tag to my affiliate links? I'm asking because I've heard that Google don't like affiliate links, and that the nofollow on affiliate links tag helps to get higher ranking?
Can you expand on what you are referring to, and the sources you are citing? I would be interested in viewing them. Thanks.
its not true that google doesn't like affiliate links. specially considering the fact their they have their own affiliate network. you can use nofollow on affiliate links if you want or setup a redirected file for affiliate links which is even better. for example, for a "health" product, you can setup a file called health and use html redirect to the affiliate page. use the health file link as your affiliate link so whenever someone clicks on the affiliate link, they will visit the health page which in turn redirect the visitors to affiliate page. this way google will not even detect any affiliate links on your page. you can do that manually or look for scripts that masks affiliate links
I have read this in various forums and experienced it myself as well. Hubpages is a site that has the nofollow attribute, but I still get valid backlinks from them whenever I post something. But if you are going to try and hide a link from Google, do you really think it won't look past the "nofollow' attribute?
