Hi All, I was checking hostgator started vps package. The configuration is 0.56 GHZ CPU 384 Ram 250GB bandwidth Just want to know if this is enough to host my php+sql site with 1000views/day. The traffic is very high in the evening some times. Traffic is not evenly distributed. Will this plan do for me without crashing / slowing down my website. Thanks,
If you have 1000 views a day..... i dont think you should get a VPS.... a shared hosting account can easily handle that. Go to sacredserver.com and get their gold plan
I want to know if the above configuration can handle my site well I some time have huge load in evenings a godaddy shared hosting is unable to handle it right now so iam thinking of bps hosting and I am planning on using cpc advertising as well so the load is going to increase steadily so pls let me know if the ram and processer speed above is good enough for now
@yuri This is really the most common myth. Even if your site is getting hardly 1000views a day, still if your script is poorly coded, it generates tons of sql queries which ultimately crashes the sql server and things go down. @Devaguptam I honestly woulnd't suggest hostgator, as one of my clients who moved over to me, had issues with their VPS. After some research, I found their VPS'es to be completely over sold. They might be able to handle good traffic, but they aren't good when it comes to resource consumption.
It can handle mate. However to do look into options of having multiple vps providers just in case one dont fit you. cheers
friendlymentor and cripperz can you pls give me some alternative suggestions to hostgator for vps hosting
You will spend much money for only 1000 page views per day? A well-configured shared hosting (like install a web cache system) can handle more than 10,000 page views per day. I advice you to learn what is web cache and why it is very very important for websites with high traffic.
what script are u using? I'm at godaddy with 2 WP blog and 5k pageview, and around 2,5k UV/day and it's just fine, ofcourse I install supercache+db cache and setup cloudflare.com only free one and it's fine. What I don't like in godaddy is only 1GB max mysql size, this one make me get vps for my article directory site.
Nothing wrong with choosing a VPS over shared hosting. I myself like the dedicated resources a VPS provides and not having another shared client bring my site to it knees is also nice. Are you looking for a managed or unmanaged server?
a day yes, at one time - no, but that amount of ram wont give you ability to use control panel, are you ready for this?
