In another thread I asked for people's opinions between a few menu color options for www.bizammo.com. I made a final decision on the light gray, so thanks to those to helped out. I had also asked about the red links and if I should change them. The point was brought up that people don't necessarily recognize something red as a link, so I wanted to try some shades of blue. Because the blue links looked terribly w/ the old logo, I opted to try a full color change from red to blue. Which looks better in your opinion (from a general asthetic sense to what would likely get the most clicks)? Red: http://publicrelations.bizammo.com Blue: www.BizAmmo.com Thanks again. I appreciate your opinions. Jenn
Hmm, although I would normally choose blue, for this specific site I will have to go with red. The red links provide a overall consistency, while the blue links clash with the red logo.
On the blue one I changed the logo to blue as well. It's showing up that way for me. Is the logo showing up red still for you on the blue site link?
If the logo is supposed to be blue, then my vote is definitely for the blue layout Here's what I'm seeing...
Wonderful site. I like the blue links. When I see red links on a site it reminds me of grade school, when my ex-nun teacher (who looked a lot like Freddy Kreuger) thrived on giving us students big red marks of failure on our test papers.
Both look good. Personally I prefer the red. Either way, I would change the colour of the links at the very top on the right hand side (home, blog, forums, etc) to black.
Tyler... you were on the site earlier I guess from the other thread. I know I had to clear my cache to get it to show up right when I changed it, so maybe that's the problem. I'll stick with blue then, and start changing over the subdomains and things today, and ing, I'll change the top right links to black. Thanks! Jenn
To me, that blue is too much like default blue. I think a darker blue would look much better. But that's just me..
Hmmm ... I usually go for cooler colours too, and shy away from in your face colours. However, and oddly enough I really like the version with red writing. It works really well. One tiny criticism about the menu - the font is too small for me to read easily and I've got enough frown lines already, I don't want any more
ahhhh, I've just realised why I preferred the red - the links in center of page have accompanying text which balances it out a bit. With the blue links it looks too blocky and in your face because there is nothing splitting it up.
I think you should make an option to the site like: skin1 - 2, or change colours 1 - 2, and with css u can change the whole colours even that logo with one click.. I cant decide which is better, I definetely like red better but the majority of clicks goes to blue, thats why blue has an advantage..
I definitely don't want to have multiple skins, b/c it would hurt in branding efforts. The blue sample is the homepage for the network of smaller subdomain sites, while the red is one of the subdomain sites' homepages. I probably shouldn't have touched the home page, and done two subdomains. Sorry about that. From the feedback, I think I'm probably going to go with blue, but perhaps a different shade. I'll try to make the changes by tonight on at least one of the subdomains so I can get some feedback on a final choice. I'll look into playing w/ the menu font size. Thanks everyone! Jenn
Jenn, You're still at it I see lol Firstly I'm glad you went with the light grey, it looks wonderful! My thoughts on the red vrs blue: Red brings a very "crisp" and "corporate" look to you site. Now the blue on the other hand brings out a "warmth". I normally go against blue, however in this case it gives a good feel to your site. I think this one is going to come down to your own preference, which feel do you think your sites visitors will be more comfortable in? Which-ever one you do go with, you have done an excellent job!
