How many blogs can Hostgator's baby plan handle?

Lets say all will (eventually) have 1000+ pots, 1000+ visitors per day, no unnecessary plugins except for cache...
    ?

Did you check their resource allocation per account? 20-25% for CPU and Memory usage. 25 apache process limit they have. It will restrict you to being run more than 1-2 high traffic based WP sites, even if you have BOTS and use lot of plugins and AJAX tech, you will get internal server error due to 25 apache process limit.

Also they have certain INODES limit and mysql process limit set to : 50.

So think if HG is beneficial for WP sites :)

The next benefit about using HostGator for discount WordPress blog hosting is that they support unlimited MySQL databases and the ability to host unlimited domain names.

It can handle 30+ blogs, but you got to be careful with resourcers, or they will close you down.

At that level you would need a vps.

It's not the pages that matter, it's the resources you use. You could presumably have a million pages (well...their inode limit would get you before that), and unless a lot of people are visiting the site, and thus the server is pushing those pages, your resource usage is going to be minimal.

actually its the bandwith that matters and how fast your pages load.

Not quite. You're going to have plenty of bandwidth to use on most reliable shared servers. In fact, I have yet to see bandwidth ever be an issue, and I have been in the business for 15 years. Especially now with many/most servers having 1gbps connections, it's very, very difficult for a shared server to max out the ethernet port.

Your page loading time is going to be far more dependant on the processor, and even more so on disk i/o than it would ever be on bandwidth.

Its really going to depend on various factors. Keep in mind that anytime you go with a web host claiming to offer unlimited diskspace/bandwidth, you run the risk of landing on a poorly managed server that might be overloaded. Not saying this will be the case with HG, but assuming you land on a stable server, its really going to come down to the amount of traffic your website is receiving.

weve had 50+ blogs on a single account alone, the problem is the "inodes" the more files you let them handle, the more blogs, the more process, the more resources you will consume thus making your account included in their weekly watch list! each week they will tell you you must lower your process resources, telling you to use cache plugin etc, eventually you will get all sorts of problem because they will halt your domain/host files "temporarily" until you resolve "their" issue. until you choose another hosting site..... sorry my english sucks....

Not sure we have 23 blogs with over 3K visits and have never got a email about anything. When that happens I guess I reopen my hosting business.
    Good luck
